We are going to Andrews Bay for an overnighter tomorrow morning. I got a fresh water license for fishing in Rimrock Lake...what could I fish for in Lake Washington this weekend? What is open, what could I keep if I should be so lucky as to snag some hapless fish?

Don't know what kind of tackle you have on board, But you can catch most all fresh water fish that this state has to offer out of that lake. It is the most under fished lake in the state. We have yarded out some monster cutthroat trout out of there.

Pat, there are reasonable numbers of cutthroat trout in Lake Washington (and many other species of fish too). I've found trolling spoons/spinners just N of the 520 bridge near the east side of the lake to be very effective. Use your fish finder to figure out the depth - typically shallow in the early AM/late evening and then deeper during the day. I've found that trolling with down riggers at 40-60' is often good.

There are also reasonable numbers of both large and small mouth bass in the lake. People do pretty well by cruising near docks and other structure and pitching small jigs.

Well, gave up the Andrews Bay idea for the weekend, the rain coupled with a nagging cold I am coming down with put an end to that idea. How long is Lake Washington open for fishing?

Pat will have to check the regs to be certain but I belive it is a year round lake for trout. Not so sure about bass and perch.
