went fishing the opening weekend of the coast last week did not take too many pictures just seemed to space it this year. but did get a couple. thursday butts and lings, friday sea bass and lings sat butts and lings with a bonus of a giant pacific octopus at the very end. Lots of lings(no pics) lost one monster 5' below the water all the rest were 12-15 pounders. and some decent butts that we had to filter through. fished on my buddies sea sport.

here are three pics of the weekend

Nice fish, Jake; what did that one go? Those chickens look like some mighty fine eatin'.

Are those copper pipe jigs behind you?

mine was in the 40's. and yes pipe jigs for sure offshore. and the one I am holding came on a pipe as well the other big one. and all were good eater size.

as for the octopus it does make good bait however we eat them. and they are good, and was the highlight for me of the meat we brought home.
we cut the legs off, 3-4 sec blanch to firm up the tentacles skin them(takes some time to get it down). .then skin between the tentacles. cut into 1/2" rounds soak in milk for a few hours them tenderize with a meat tenderizer light dry batter and fry don't over cook. there like butter. the mantle is prepared the same way just a little more work.

good seeing you yesterday Rick and thanks for the help out there.

Great pictures of good fish! I agree with eating the octopus. You can easily overcook them. We enjoy both octopus and squid--the fresher the better.

Nicely done!
