Fishing Alone

Been fishing about every morning and am getting a score neck from constantly crunching down and looking astern to check my downriggers from the cabin. Does anyone use a camera ( monitor on helm )...or even mirrors to keep an eye on the fishing rods...... .. would make life alot easier . Tug

I used mirrors outside of the side windows one year but everyone made fun of me. Now I have a video camera mounted top center at the rear of the cabin roof that can see two poles in the aft holders or turned to watch one side or the other. The display is my big Garmin. It takes two video inputs, so I have a camera in the anchor rode locker, too. The aft camera not only helps for solo fishing, but also for the frequent rainy fishing. It is also great for watching behind when running. I usually have my display set with 1/2 for chart, 1/4 for radar, and 1/4 for rear camera video.

My older CD25 does not have aft cabin windows, and the door, which does have a small window, is off center and doesn't provide much view.

I have a wide angle mirror mounted on the starboard end of the overhead shelf. Not for fishing, but for monitoring folks in the cockpit when I'm running. So far, I have not noticed anybody going overboard yet.
