Well, sort of. Kids, don't try this at home.
One of the things I've not yet done is mount my fire extinguisher. Today, that was going to happen. I had it out and tried it for size and fit in various locations in the cabin. The 22 Angler cabin is much smaller than the cruiser cabin so places where it will fit, be easily accessible but still out of the way are very limited. After trying it in various places I thought it might fit well on the inboard face of the starboard storage compartment under the overhang that was going to be created when I moved the pilot's seat inboard about four inches to give my wide track bottom more room. The seat came mounted on the front center of the starboard storage locker, like so:
In this position the seat almost touches the engine shift controls. This would have worked when I was six years old but not in my current state of spread. So, I knew the seat was going to be moved inboard about 4 inches to give my hips plenty of room. This would create an overhang of about 3 inches into the passageway and I was considering mounting the fire extinguisher under this overhang. It would be easily accessible and the seat would prevent bumping into it when moving through the passageway. So, to see if it would work I needed to move the seat first.
The dinette seats on the Angler are nothing more than two fiberglass tubs with well padded lids that lift off. Plenty of storage in them and I've been using them to store tools, parts, and supplies while getting the boat ready. I'd removed the seats/lids already to get to my tools and such. When I decided to go ahead and move the pilot seat I set the fire extinguisher down in the forward storage tub and proceeded to remove the pilot seat. I decided to get a picture of the starboard storage locker with the seat removed and sat down on the edge of the dinette tub to do so.
Well, my butt found that little red safety pin on the extinguisher, managed to remove it and depress the handle. This is the result:
Luckily, since I was sitting on it, most of the yellow powder stayed in the tub. Of course now I've got to get another fire extinguisher. Here is the flimsy safety pin in my old extinguisher:
I think I'll go with a new extinguisher with a sturdy metal safety pin. Oh well....
On to more productive issues. I got the pilot seat moved inboard four inches:
It now overhangs the aisle about three inches. I found that it was mounted on four 3/4 inch thick Starboard planks cut in ten inch squares and fastened atop each other to get the seat up high enough. That 10x10x6 inch block of starboard weighs just about as much as the seat. That stuff is really heavy.
The good news is that I think my new fire extinguisher with the strong metal safety pin is going to mount under it just fine. I think the seat protruding over the top of it will keep it from getting bumped around too much.
Also, I got the Faria fuel flow meter installed. I meant to attach the sending unit and route the wires to the instrument panel as the same time I ran the wire for the depth sounder transducer but I forgot so I got to take things apart to run the wires a second time.
Yes, it's a bit dusty due to the fire extinguisher mishap.
And I installed two stainless rod holders for trolling. The plastic ones I'd installed before are just for transporting rods. They aren't nearly strong enough to take a strike from a 20 lb. Bluefish. Also, I found a 36 inch fish measuring tape that fit perfectly on the splash well edge once I cut off the advertisements and metric measurements.
Almost ready. Another day or two of warm weather and I'll be finished. THEN I'll go FISHING!
