Finally! Pics of Valkyrie!

Hi Brats,

Well, it took quite a while, but I finally have something in my album! The site wouldn't take my high resolution photos, so I finally took a digital photography course this week and nailed it.

I just came home, smacked the iMac upside the head to let it know that I meant business, said a few magic words, held my mouth just right, compressed some shots and they are now in the Valkyrie album.

Jack and Bonnie on Salty Dog get credit for taking the great running shots on Lake Erie taken during a great September weekend.

My favorite is the first one, "Getting on Plane."

Hope that you enjoy them as much as we have.

Great pics Nick! I've been waiting to see action shots of Valkyrie. Love that green CD-22! And you're right, the planing shot is a winner.

Very nice Nick , how do you like your rod holders can you remove them easy or do you have to climb on the steps to remove them?

Looks GREAT! I like the little table in the cockpit. We have gone to the tall radar arch too, pics to come. We should get some this weekend at the gathering at Poulsbo. Sounds like you are going to get a lot of good use out of that boat in the next year... and then some!

Gary,

I like them a lot. Without them, it seems like there's not a good place to put rods where they won't be underfoot and in danger of getting crunched.

It's easy to get to the rods (I'm 6'3") by standing on the gunwale/sidedeck.
Marcia is 5'3" and has trouble with it.

I also use short bungees to secure the rods in place. I'm not sure if it is necessary at this point, but I don't want to find out the hard, and expensive, way.

The holders themselves are from West Marine. The toughest part was getting all of them lined up parallel. I guess you could say that I'm into symmetry.

Instead of bungees just cut the plastic bottoms out of the holders. i used a hole saw on a drill, forgot what size. now the rods ride all the way down to the reel and can not get out.

Janet and Chris,

That little filet/bait prep table also works quite well for snacks, drinks and TV watching at anchor. I got it from West Marine and it also pivots from horizontal to vertical and every place in between. This allows us to get it out of the way to put on the mooring cover and makes room to raise the Honda 90 completely out of the water. It's pretty handy.

By the way, the welcoming that you gave to Marcia and me last May when we visited the factory and your beautiful cabin in the San Juans showed what we could expect from this great C-Dory family. We still want to drag our boat to your area for some cruising in your area.

Tom,

Great idea! I'll drill out the bottoms as soon as I get Valkyrie back from the canvas guy on Monday.
