I have a chance to buy a 1989 C Dory 22 from a friend. We are having a difficult time determining a fair price as most of the older boats for sale were built around 1999 -2005 and are priced around $29,000, but how about one that is 10 years older? The boat I am looking at is in fairly good condition but needs some upgrading. It has a newer Honda 70 4 stroke and a Honda 10 hp 4 stroke kicker, a fairly new 2 axel trailer and full canvas. Any thoughts on a fair price? Lcoppard

You are getting few replys because its a hard question. I have always said that the only price that matters is the one that the buyer and the seller agree on.

A 89 boat is the same basic hull as the current models. The 70 Honda is a plus (90 might be better, but if you keep the boat light--70 is fine.

The early 90's boats sell in the low 20's. Every once in a while you will see a pre 87 boat for the teens--but I would say low 20's assuming that the boat is in good condition and the engines check out. Also depends on the accessories--canvas, electronics, stove, trailer etc--if new trailer and canvas-with new electronics then in the mid 20's.
