Factory Radar Arch

I asked Jeff at the factory about radar arches. He said the factory offers a low model with built in rocket launchers for $999.00 and a taller model (a dingy will go under but no rocket launchers) for $890.00. Seems the price has gone up lately, yet these may still be a fair bargain. Does anyone have the "factory" low model from the last few months. Are these from Boulton or elsewhere? Does the arch attach inside the cabin or outside? How many rocket launchers (rod holders) are included? I will send Jeff a follow up also but they are pretty busy these days.

Not from the last few months, but there was one on display at the 2004 SBS. It was made by Tanner, and had four rocket launchers - here are a few pics:

Don't know if the factory has changed suppliers or style.

One thing I didn't like about the Tanner arch - I prefer clamp on rocket launchers, they are far more adjustable, and you have the option of removing them down the road if need be. Precision Marine makes some of the best you can find.

Most of the arches I've seen attach inside the cabin, which makes for a cleaner wiring installation for any electronics mounted up there.

I will try and telephone Jeff to see if I can get a negotiation going. I agree with both of you that clamp on rod holders would be better. I thin the low model would suit me. Have enjoyed Dan's tales of Oregon to Alaska with his new boat. Last year I followed closely the building of the new Da Nag and the SS Sea Shift and their deluxe rigging. It is hailing right now, been to cold and wet to do much on the boat in my backyard. First 10 days of April were glorious, since then just awful. Maybe it was the swithch to DST?

The low mount arch really looks great. Does anyone know if it would fit a hightop model? I suspect the welded-on rocket launchers might interfere with the higher center section of the hightop.

There is a hightop version for both the low and the high arch it is 5" higher than the standard version. We usually carry one of each in stock.

Thanks for your help everyone. Dan I think the low arch will be just like yours, but lower. So thanks for the pictures and sharing your trip. I have exchanged a couple of more emails with Jeff at the factory and I wanted to share his helpful info below. I will be ordering the low arch from the factory today.

Jeff reported to me that:

The arch has pipes for cross braces. The wires can be run through the support and the arch does come with the stainless reinforcing plates for the interior of the boat.

The arch is made by Railmakers Marine. C-Dory uses Tanner for the Orca arches and Boulton for the railings. The arches come with 4 rod holders welded on, $999.00. An arch without rod holders is $890.00 and can be ordered. Jeff is including shipping in the above prices (no small matter). It usually takes a couple of weeks to build an arch.

I received my radar arch last Friday and am well pleased. There was a delay from Brooks as they are very busy this time of year and Jeff ended up shipping me an arch with the launchers (the factory had one in stock)for the same price as one without launchers. He even worked out the details when he was on his way to Maryland for the gathering and Justin packed it up and shipped it to me. Here is a copy of the email I sent this AM. Glad I went with this arch. I can tell it is one of those things (glad there are so many) that will make me smile each time I see it.

Dear Jeff and Justin,

Received the radar arch on Friday. It was in pretty good shape, nice job with the bubble wrap. One rocket launcher was bent and one "foot" was bent a bit. I was able to fix that shipping damage in short order. The arch is mounted on the boat, four electric lines are pulled through along with a nylon cord to use as a future fish tape when I mount radar. I put the vhf (4 foot Galaxy) and gps antennas (Galaxy extension for Lowarance) on the arch along with a loud hailer/fog signal horn. A wire is run and ready to use to mount cockpit lights (on my list of projects) in the next few weeks. The nylon cord is there to pull the radar cable through some day.

Fits great, looks good, extra handholds when climbing about. I will post some pictures soon of the arch and some of my other little projects.
 
Finally I put some pictures of the Brooks Marine factory radar arch up in my album. This is the low arch with four rocket launchers (rod holders). Really like it! I installed it with 1 ½ inch bolts, some day I will go back and neaten the installation by using 1 inch bolts and cap nuts (or maybe not).
