External Ice Chest Rack for '92 Cruiser

Any suggestions for where I can get a rack to hold an Igloo Ice Chest above the floor, and directly in front of the engine - above the splash well? My Cruiser is a '92. I am running a 90 hp E-Tech, and a 5 hp kicker - if that makes any difference.

Also, what size Igloo would fit in the suggested rack.

This box is expensive but it really does the job. The day before I use it I put a package of Dry Ice into it to get the cooler COLD. When I load the cooler the next day I throw the dry ice away because if I leave it in everything freezes. After three days the ice was down maybe 20%. It's around $400 at Amazon so if thats to much I understand, just thought everybody should hear about this Bad Ass cooler oh and the hinges and latch are not coming apart for a long time.

might help if you named the cooler??? what cooler are you talking about.

Cooling your cooler first is always a great idea. When camping with my grand father in the 70's he would haul the coolers to a friends store and place them in the walk in freezer first over night, somethings with water in them to freeze. when at camp we always kept them covered and tried not to open them unless we really needed to. Your ice will last a lot longer.

Now I fill the coolers with cold water the night before and let them sit in the garage. This lowers the temp a bit and does not require your ice to cool the cooler.

As for racks you can make one your self or find one online. ATVs seem to have a lot of cooler racks that would work. ebay or just google it.

There are also a few companies that make to order.

Sorry about Cooler name I put it in the subject box. The company is "Pelican" model 65Q-MC Elite the camera industry has been using them for years because of the water tight seal.

Pelican make quality cases. I lived by them for many years.

This one hangs from the cockpit transom bar into the splashwell. A bit of mod on the cooler. Same mode on another, larger one that hangs in the cockpit for a huge fishbox.

Thanks for the pics of your cooler placement I have not considered that before. Its got me thinking too, we just need someone who's done it before us. I'm thinking about some foam type of material to level it, then a strap to connect to a peice of hard ware on the inside to keep it in place.

I was thinking off the floor like the one shown in the Boatest video. I do not know how to insert a picture here. This is the link [/url]http://www.boattest.com/images-gallery/photos/C-dory-22-stern1.jpg.

Like many, I have an array of Igloo Ice Crest sizes, so I could go big or smaller.

My primary use of C Pelican is fishing, and I am looking forward to some overnights first. Then longer trips.

Thank you for your guidance.

Jim

This is what I made to hold my cooler. The Yukon coolers have feet that are bolted on to the bottom. I bought longer bolts and bolted the cooler to the transom table. I also bought scotty well nuts and mounted the table onto of the cooler with stainless bolts.

Thank you all for the depth and breadth of the cooler rack options. I am thinking that I will fish with the C-Dory a time or two, and get a better feel for work will work for us.

All the best,
