Exploring the Apostle Islands (Parking in Bayfield?)

Hello,

Does anyone know a good place to park one's tow vehicle while exploring the Apostle Islands for a few days? I'm headed up Sun-Thurs with my 16-angler and it would be nice not to worry about my truck while I'm out there.

Thanks,
Brenton

We used the launch ramp at Bayfield, which had parking for a couple of days. We stayed at Rays Point Marina, north of Bayfield, where they had a place for us to park the trailer so we could use the truck.

Don't forget to have a fish boil whilst in Bayfield. Ours was served by a student from Russia. Apparently the resort town up there get a lot of their summer help from Eastern Europe.

Our visit to Bayfield/Bayview is here: Bayfield to Eben

The launch area in Bayfield is undergoing major reconstruction. Launching and parking are difficult at the moment, though there is parking on the streets closest to the ramp. When done, there will be a large parking area for boats and trailers, as well as washroom facilities. In the meantime, you have to play "dodge-em" with graders and other construction equipment while trying to launch.

you might try the red cliff Indian res just north of town. there's a marina ,ramp and parking. Nothing fancy but the ramp is fine and leaving the trailer would probably be less expensive. We stayed a month there while we cruised the Apostles. Wish we were up there right now. Enjoy.

When down at the launch this afternoon, I discovered that the construction has moved faster than I was aware. There is already a layer of asphalt on the road leading to the ramp, and also in the new car-trailer parking area. Contrary to what I said in my earlier post, I would feel OK about using it if I was looking for a place to launch for the Islands. Another alternative would be Little Sand Bay, just up the coast north of Bayfield. There is a good parking area there for the launch also.

16 is prepped and ready. Thanks a bunch for the info, I'll report back after the week. It's looking like the weather is near perfect. Like I tell all my west coast friends, we don't get much of it, but when the sun is out on a large body of fresh water, nothing beats it. I'm very excited. Just me and my dog and fishing and Tom's Burned Down Cabin :)
