What a great story in how you saved some road miles. My appetite is whetted even more for doing the Erie canal. Since we are trailering from Denver we have to go down the Hudson River into New York harbor and take in those sites as well. Gotta be even more fun seeing the skyline from the water.
It seems that the most consistent advice is to take you time and have fun. I need to get out the calender and schedule at least 5 weeks!
