Embarrasing Question

I was a nuc (Bergall & John Adams) both aft & forward. I was in what was often called "O" gang. As such I was an OOD or EOOW.

Heh heh, our engineer on the Ethan Allen gave us a lump when as OOD, he thought he was on high power, a safe distance from a freighter in the Straits. Oops. He was on low power! Collision alarm time. Just the sail planes hit the freighter's bottom but it exploded the hydraulic relief valve in the trunk and popped all the paint off that 3500# hydraulic line all the way through the ops compartment. We got a quick fly by external check from Rota, fixed the valve and continued uneventfully.

Soon as I made E8 it was COW/DO watches forevermore. Loved it when you guys raised the scope underwater and we occasionally got to see dolphins from underneath. Awesomely beautiful reentries. We once had a big tuna follow us for three days, btw....

Thanks, Bill, you brought back some good memories.

Hey Don, I've got a Dining Room set made by the same folks that made your submarine....[ETHAN ALLEN]. Probably not as waterproof though...

Heh heh, so you have a dining room set made by Generous Dynamics in Groton Connecticut? four inches of HY80 steel is pretty darn heavy, Charlie. I suppose your bride makes you move the chairs and keep it sparkling.

I have a couple of 4" square bookends made from a piece of the hull when it was overhauled in Newport News VA and they're enough for me.

You come pick the cotton-pickin' thing up Don, you'll think it's HY-100!

Gotta move it to my daughter's storage area this weekend too, the house is sold, closing on 2 Feb and we've given it to her...

I'd love to. Now I can pack up all this junk and try to figure out how to put it in the other two houses that are both full.... Not this one but next SBS for sure, or maybe next summer when it's not winter. There is no winter here this year, supposed to be close to 70 this weekend :disgust Not complaining, just mystifyed!

Hi to all,

Now that Bill brought up the global warming thingy I must put my two cents worth in the post. I just saw a TV news show about polar bears being put on the endangered species list, but, all the agencies up north say there are more polar bears than ever.

It is warm here in PA and Pat and I just love it. We are saving a lot of money on our heating bill. More to put in C-Treck's tanks next summer. We are unable to travel this winter as we are trying to sell our glass repair business.

Back to the post topic the USPS courses are all changing for the better-check them out.

Hmmmm -- are you implying global warming, Charlie?

Nope, just a strange warm period. They say 2007 is going to be a very warm year...

BTW, I haven't seen polar bear one here in Northern VA... :disgust
