Was just on LOA Lance Owners Of America truck camper site, for sale section. Never saw these bkes before www.prodecotech.com they were selling for one half price $750. Its sold already ,not cheap but full price a lot more. Seems like a good bike for boats, you can pedal or use battery. The folding in half is good feature, there not small like you see usually with fold down bikes. Seemed like a good deal like new and half price.

We have a pair of folding bikes that we took on the boat, depending on where we were cruising - sure makes a difference in getting around by land if the terrain is conducive for biking. On the Erie Canal, we strapped the bikes on the radar arch...

Last month, while in Arizona, we picked up a pair of fat tire folding e-bikes...

Even folded, these would probably be too big to carry on a C-Dory (there are other, smaller folding e-bikes as mentioned in the OP). The e-bikes are a great way to get around. With pedal assist, you can easily do 15 to 18 mph, with a range of 25 to 35 miles. If you desire, you can skip the pedaling and just twist the throttle, top speed on this model is around 20 mph. (No idea of the range with just throttle, but I would guess it at 15+ miles).

It takes 4 hours to bring the batteries up to a full charge. We researched different brands and chose this model due to the low step-over height and the ability to get off the pavement. They are not lightweight (compared to our other folders), about 56 pounds (aluminum alloy frame, but the battery is about 8 pounds, the electric hub motor is over 15 pounds).

If you choose to not use pedal assist, there is no drag from the motor. Also (I get asked frequently), there is no regenerative charging (which would increase drag).

These aren't going to replace our scoots, but are a great in-town mode of getting around, assuming the traffic isn't crazy.

There is a picture of my folding electric bike in my photo album under the album "Shore Leave."

When I purchased, I found out that the Chinese are making these by the gajillions and they vary a lot on what you get. 24V, 36V, 48V batteries. 250W, 350W, up to 750W motors. 5, 7, 8 speeds, etc.

Mine was made for the Dutch market (they know their bikes). It has some cool features like lights that come on automatically when it is dark and the bike is moving. The LED headlight is really impressive. 8 speed Shimano hardware. Hydraulic disc brakes front and rear. I'm not kidding.

I'll probably have it with me at Friday Harbor.

Because of the plethora of competing models, research was very time consuming.

When we went to florida ,last January I loaded 2 full size bikes in boat stern and secured them towards back so we could get in cabin door. But really like these new fold in half electric bikes. Someday we want to travel around the country in rv and in boat, maybee will save up for 1 or 2 of these type bikes. Jim those big tire bikes look good, guessing there good for beach? Just gotta keep salt off them,I ruined a couple bikes over the years, camping at Huntington Beach State park. Would ride the mile and a half from CG. to jetty to fish after a few seasons the salt did my bikes in. Guess I didn't clean them as good as I thought.

Maybe a zinc anode on the bike to protect it?

We have 2 foldable electric bikes that we take when cruising. They fit quite well across the back of the cockpit. They are 3-speed and the brand is called VeloMini. They go about 12 mph max and the battery lasts about 12 miles. You can see photos of them in our album. We love them! Each bike weighs 32 pounds and they set up almost instantly. As for the welds and general workmanship, it is outstanding. We highly recommend them. We also have a trailer for those trips to the grocery store or laundromat. It is called the Burley Travoy. It is pricey if bought new, but very handy.

Nice bikes, like the Burley travoy with the cargo bag. I just use old bikes for beach travel now the sand and salt is tough on them. I would have a back pack ,5 gallon bucket on handle bar ,pole in hand, always said sure would be nice to have a fishing cart for the bike. When wind was strong felt like you hardly need to pedal on the way back. But depending on the high tide you had to walk the bike a lot of the way. Learned to catch my first sheepshead at the jetty after a long time of just getting a crushed fiddler crab back.

For two years I've used a Super Cycle 800 which I paid $500 for . Its a little heavy 100lbs but it handels like the real thing, I rode real motor cycles all my life as well as raced bicycles so I speak with experience. The range, speed and supension make this scooter a real god send for me. I had a fabricatror build a device so the scooter sits across the top of the splash well and was built so it is up against the edge of the tent and out of the weather. I also had a cover made of sunbrella so it can sit on the dock with steering colum folded down and be out of the weather. Its small Fat tires will go over very sloppy terrain such as soft costal sand, and the suspension does a very good job of going over rough stuff well. The Scooter is classic Chinese, meaning pot metal so attention has to be paid to maintence but for the cost and performance the scooter its an ok deal. I use a back pack when I go places so I can easily carry stuff if I'm shopping or doing laundry etc. I don't think the 800 model is avilable any more but the other models look pretty good. The range and speed are the strong points that you can go to their sight for. "Super Cycles & Scooters" I'm using the Davit "small crane" that everyone uses on this sight to get it on and off my boat. PS I use this scooter because I'm disabled not lazy :monty

I forget the name of the Chinese company that actually manufactured the bike, but they made it for a european company that markets them under the brand name "Jager", with an umlaut over the "a". There is a hokey YouTube video that doesn't explain much. Neither does their website. I think that they were or are looking for a U.S. marketer and I bought a salesman sample from somebody that didn't know anything about bikes, let alone electric bikes. The seller didn't even know all the bells and whistles that came with the bike. Unlike other Ebay purchases, I was really surprised in a good way.

I just took it with me on a trip to Lake Chelan and went to Stehekin. Took the bike off and went around Stehekin and then up on some of the gravel Forest Service roads. It has BMX tires. I'll attempt to post a picture here, but I just put the picture towards the end of a folder called "Lake Chelan."
