Door paint peeling

Greetings C-brats. Enjoying a nice fall afternoon aboard Curious Traveler on anchor and looking around at little projects I need to do after having her for my first season. I noticed the paint on the exterior of the rear door is starting to buble and even peel in some places. Anything I can do to prevent this from getting worse?

According to your photos you have a glass door with aluminum frame. These do corrode, especially if exposed to salt water.

The window frames and the door frame can also have the corrosion. Sand that area down very well. Wash with soap and water and then acetone. Mask well. Spray or brush with strontium chrome, zinc chromate, or one of similar primers such as Awlgrip extra guard (two part, about $40 from West Marine) primers. Then put on several coats of off white paint. I have found that "Hatteras white" is the closest: Interlux Brightside or Petit Easypoxy both come in the Hatteras white. With some good primer build up and good brush work it will look like new.
