Does the price sound right?

Kevin, every dealership works differently, and you hadn't mentioned previously that the dealer had encouraged you to but it elsewhere, and that they'd be willing to install it.

My point was that unless the dealer says up front he's willing to install items bought elsewhere, don't assume that he's willing to. It's kinda like walking into the steakhouse and bringing your own Porterhouse or T-bone.

I agree with Matt.... It is not fair to the dealer to buy parts on line and expect service and warintee from a stocking dealer...It is hard enough for them to stay in business......maintaining a decent inventory costs money and sevice time is not free...

If you can install it yourself that is a different matter... most shops will not install parts purchased elsewhere. I got burned twice before I got this attitude... once with a "rebuilt" engine that was a dud and I had to remove and replace for free....and once with a crate engine that Chevrolet would not warrantee because they did not install it... I ended up fixing for free (didn't really have to do it, but I felt bad for the customer)
