Disappointment

We were going to go out on Lake Washington today for a little overnighter at Andrews Bay - WRONG! We could not even get close to the water! We went first to Coulon Park in Renton - massive traffic jam about a mile away. The place was absolutely slammed, Boeing Family Picnic Day or some damn thing, obviously no chance to launch there...back to Bellevue's 40th St. boat ramp...the parking area was full. Jan from C-Change told us he counted 110 boats at Andrews Bay and more arriving...two weeks ago, there were no more than a dozen...So reluctantly we just went back home. Some consolation, Austin and I have been playing our guitars together tonight, pretty cool - he loves Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, CCR, Eagles and other stuff, so stay tuned for the Andersons at Open Mic Night at the Taproom!

Cool... that your son and you spending time pluck'n together. You can have a great time in the driveway in your boat at times. Do not even have to have the water. Disappointment on my end too about a month ago... One week, I take friends down river to see the late Johnny Cash home perched in the rock cliffs of the Cumberland River on Old Hickory Lake about 10-15 miles down river from Mom's dock. Then...only to return a few weeks later, with some other friends... to see the remains after the fire that destroyed it all.

"Beth" Johnson of SENSIE, her friend Linda who helps with the annual Seattle Hotel Gathering, my Mother and I made a quick trip down to see the place. Then... my friend and his wife Ranger Dav and Vicky and my Mom.... made our 1st voage down to see the remains.

A lot of fine music was written in that home of the cliff.

Glad you had the time to spend with your son...and glad he was willing to give up his dinette bunk for me on Blakley Island a few years back too.

Yeah, it was really fun...unusual for Austin and us to both be home on a Saturday night! We did a mean "Hello Mary Lou"! Had not heard about Johnny Cash's former home burning...sad.

Pat. What was going on was Cast for Kids event that day. Last yr they put thru about 700 kids, most the first time they had ever been fishing. Then their probably were the regulars making it worse and of course the parking is not plentiful anyway.

Pat,

Caryn and I saw all the boats in Andrews Bay last night. You were probably better off spending the evening with your son. It gets pretty rowdy and loud there with all those 20-somethings in their party boats. Doesn't sound too relaxing to me.

But if you're determined to go to Andrews Bay, you could always try the Atlantic Street Boat Launch across the street from Rainier Beach High School on Seward Park Avenue. They just renovated it this past winter and is pretty nice. PM me for directions.

Sorry to hear your plight guys, but it worked out for you . We, Laurna Jo, Goya, and C-Daisy , attended the Northwesten Boating Council Annual picnic at Brownsville. We just go back home! Dang if we knew a liitle sooner we could've had even more C-Brats there!! We represented Tacoma Outboard Association, and we could've used some more Brats there for sure!! We also ran into Doug, former owner of Liberty Call, now owner of a 30' Willard ,that berths there.
