Does anyone use a lift to load and unload a dingy from the roof of their boat?

I just drag it over the bow rail. It's more awkward than heavy, so it's doable. Boat weighs less than 60 lbs. I do use a Garhauer davit to install the small outboard, however, as I can do it from the safety of the cockpit.
I suppose I could make a bar, like Dr Bob did, but it would take some testing to see if our davit actually has enough height/length to get the boat onto the roof. From looking at his pics, his davit seems much taller than ours. I've never tried but I can see the advantage of not wrestling with it on the foredeck.

Our davit on the 25 has a foot extra on the lower f the two vertical poles. It is only. a few dollars extra to extend--basically the cost of the SS pipes. Garhaueer is easy to work with for customization.
We used to lift all sorts of dinghies up onto decks--some in the 120# range. Most likely that is why we have back problems in our elderly years.
We have oriented our cockpit mount so that a motor can be transferred from the kicker mount to the dinghy along side of the C Dory. We have also used similar davits, but custom made in our larger boats to pick up motors up to 25 hp from larger dinghies.
