Daydream's Great Loop Blog!

The blame for the 30 minute editing time goes to DogOn Dory.

I am sorry, but catching you in a grammatical error is about as much a once in a lifetime thing as riding out a hurricane on a C-Dory. I couldn't resist. I even included what is arguably a technical grammar error in my own post to give Patty a shot at a comeback.

Speaking of - the question was serious. Are you staying aboard for the big winds?

Yup, we will be aboard. We really have no place else to go! All the other Loopers I have talked to here are also staying aboard.

Pretty good chance that this system will be down to a low tropical storm, or even a depression, as it combines with the cool front, which pushes it to the east. Hopefully this will be a "non event" for you, as it has been so far for us down near the Gulf. My models show max wind gusts to be in the mid 30's to low 40's.

Just in case know where the tornado shelter is, if the sirens go off. It is rare, but if a tornado warning goes off, you need to shelter.

I have the Weather channel on--shows Orange Beach, Mike Slidell & Jim Cantore, with wind and rain--12 miles away from our house...a little breeze and few gusts, no rain right now. It shows how localized these storms can be. I am sure there will be more later.

I wish we could host videos on here. Maybe you can make one from Daydream during the storm, post it on your blog or Youtube, and link to it. It should be cool to see from the safety of the west coast.

It's Monday morning here, and I just got on, so this is the first I have seen about your storm for a few days. Sounds like you survived. Glad for that. Will be following as I can for a while.

I remember leaving Dog River on the start of our 2001 trip. It was a frosty morn in December and a norther had pushed all the water out of Mobile Bay. I hadn't heard of that before, but there it was. Followed the marked channel out with the boat leaving a muddy stripe behind, dragging the 7' keel.

Anchored for the night in Ingram Bayou, wonderful to be out of the marina.

Today's blog post is about heading to C-Brat's own Bob and Marie Austin's home on Bayou Marcus in Pensacola for some R&R!

Pat and Patty, as I mentioned on the phone, your trip has been one of total enjoyment for Diana and me, even though we journeyed vicariously. The things you've seen, the people you've met, the trials and joys have all been fun to follow.

So, as you're getting close to the end of the loop, thanks so much for allowing us to cruise with you.

Pat, that airplane you're standing under is my airplane, an A4D. I worked on the production flight line for Douglas Aircraft at El Segundo, LAX, when I got out of school in 1957. I was the repair engineer, whenever the pilot found a defect, I wrote (into the log book) how to fix it. I had enough sense to ask the techs and write that down. A really, really fun job. Met Battery Room Annie and she told me about WWII. My bike, though English, had AN fasteners on it.

The A4D went on to become ubiquitous, flying around the world. John McCain, your favorite, got shot down in one. The Blue Angles flew them. Douglas sold many overseas and every air museum has one. Shown that airplane to my kids a hundred times, explaining that they wouldn't be here if I hadn't had that job.

Pat that is my number 1 museum to go to .We have taken my Grandson there on numerous occasions . If you were upstairs there are a few cockpits to get in .My Grandson dropped our camera into one of them and I retrieved it which was quite a sight to see my head down in cockpit with my legs and feet sticking out of the cockpit .Funny now that i think about it .
