Of course, you could get a dumbwaiter like Charlie did. Hey Charlie, did that ex marine you hired ever wise up?

Don

I didn't know he was a marine? Anyway, I'm just using him to hold the horses out near the watering trough.

Have exchanged e-mail with Patrick, he's got a link to lots of plans now. Knowing him, he'll probably build several garages. :smileo

Bill and Dana,
Agreed. PFA!!! This is one beautiful place. And now, the little C-Dory with the best view in all of the Pacific Northwest. Nice touch. Robbi

One question though. I can't tell from the photo, does the arrow and bow of the boat point towards the direction the wind is coming from or does it point away from it? Just wondering because it seems to me it should behave like a CD and turn stern to the wind.

The arrow points into the wind.

Unlike C-Dorys, I think this is typical behaviour for weathervanes...

That's what I had assumed... maybe you need to rework it and flip the boat 180 degrees so that arrow is at the stern end  Otherwise any C-dory owner in your neighborhood will be very confused and think the wind is coming from the opposite direction. :?

Roger: You're Guilty as Charged: Over Thinking Again! (Typical of the scientist's habits).

Conventional practice dictates the arrow points into the wind, like an archer's arrow, with the tail away. (Only a few very select and special folks know of the behavior of a C-Dory in the wind.)

Guess the tendency to misread this kind of wind indicator (or to make reading it simpler) explains why the larger airports have a wind indicator consisting of a fixed airplane model of life size that pivots into the wind to tell pilots and ground observers where the wind is coming from. (In addition to the wind socks that also show wind strength.)

Funny how THINKING can get you in trouble on the one hand, but makes real discovery possible!

Joe.
