Crystal River, Florida

I am going to visit friends at Crystal River, Florida. Never been there. Flying on December 2nd and checking the boating conditions until December 9th. Are there any C-Brats in the area? My Dory will be left behind this trip. :( My friends have a pontoon boat at their dock
What is the fishing like? :thup :thdown

Mike Shotwell has his shop there, 3 Rivers and looking thru the Memberlist sorted by city/state it looks to be 4 others listed in Crystal River. Also, you can use "The Brat Map"... and that will help if folks have the info in thier profile....

Found it interesting that about 700 of our members do not have that info listed. Bummer.

If you hook up with Mike tell him Byrdman said Hey!

Hi Steve,

Glade to see that you are getting down this way but sad that your a little too far south of us. I would come and see you but Mary Jo has some Dr apt right in the middle of that time slot. Maybe next time.

Steve,
Fishing is really good out of Crystal River. We fish it every year. Trout. Redfish, Groupers, Cobia, Sheepshead and all kinds. It slows down for mid winter months once water cools to below 60 degrees. The warm water outlet at the atomic power plant is a good spot when it gets cold. Some good charters are available there if you have no boat with you. They have cut the limits on some species like grouper and red snapper.
Good luck

Hey Steve....You'all should sure check out Ocean Springs.... Trust me pal...it's your kinda place.( I fit in well) ..especially the "bait shop"... The commercial shrimpers were all like ole friends... just a great place...much like the Chester Bakery folks....
The fishing was excellent...I diden't do any, but it sure was not because I diden't have offers of boat rides and gear loans.... more that I diden't have a license.... or like to eat fish... sure did eat a ton of fresh shrimp...

See Ya

It's been a number of years since I've been there but one local delicacy if you can find it is smoked mullet. If you like fish don't pass it up! There's a hot spring there that use to have swimming with the Manatee trips in the spring.

Bingo. There ya go Steve. I thought you would get some feedback on that location.

CPTD:... did not realize you make an anual trip down there.

JOEL: Hope all is well.

Back in TN now...

Happy Fishing and good times!!
