In July I plan on trailering my CD-22 from Vancouver Wa. to Lewiston Id. and then criuse the Snake & Columbia back to Portland. There will be 2 of us, 2 40 hp Hondas on the boat, GPS, Marine radio and adequate lights. Any of you guys done this recently? [or not recently] Any advice on trainsiting the locks, fuel availability, motels, What to beware of, what to do for sure, any suggestions on how to make the trip go smoothly would be welcome. Thanks in advance --George [Wesley]

For a sense of what the river is like, Least Heat Moon has a good description in his book River Horse. You might also pick up one of the Columbia and Snake River cruising guides. I know that Fisherman's Marine carries them.

Please take lots of photos and keep a journal that you could publish on CBrats. I'd love to hear about (and consider the trip myself) about your cruise.

I have an old cruising guide, spiral bound, which doesn't show much in the way of facilities. "river horse" describes that part of the river pretty well but it didn't sound like there are a lot of facilities available. The one at arlington looks pretty nice. I have been upriver only as far as the dalles. Those two pools, the dalles and bonnevile are a lot of fun in a sailboat in the summer but I think in a c dory you might want to be out of the wind by afternoon.
