Looking for a high cool place to cruise this summer? How about a cruise through one of the largest volcanos on earth? Eruptions from this volcano covered some of our states in feet of ash. You can cruise right above active hot springs and over huge fault zones (these can be seen on your depth sounder) and some in shallow clear water.
The last big eruptions blew out so much material that the land surface collapsed into a big hole (caldera) now forming a lake with cold, clear water and with good boat ramps for launching and resupply. All in America's first National Park, surrounded by high lush green cool forests. You will see amazing bird life, and along the shores great views of large mammals. With back country permits, you can anchor in beautiful coves (or even tie at some public (no car access) docks). On the water, you will be far from the crowds.
What an experience! -- a learning adventure for you (and your kids, if they accompany you).
This is why we have fine trailer boats, easy to launch and retrieve, and comfy to live aboard. Consider the adventure of a lifetime aboard your C-Dory this summer.
