Critter Corner

Dave- Thanks for your wishes. I still very vividly remember the time with all the C-Dory folks at Shasta. These get-togethers really do bring us together in a way that goes beyond the site here.

I'll be going up to the lake for a few days now, will check back in when I return. Thanks, again! Joe.

My deepest condolences, Joe. I fondly remember Shadow from my first C-Dory gathering at Benicia, back in 2002 - what a grand girl she was.

Here's to hoping your upcoming addition can fill her shoes, and some of the emptiness you are feeling. As one who's been there a few times, I think you're doing the right thing. Having a youngster charging around the house, wreaking puppy mischief at every turn, is a great way to move on in a situation like this.

You two can grace the home page for the day.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your faithful companion, Joe. Having to part with our old black lab, Cush, a number of years ago was perhaps the hardest thing I've ever had to do. In fact I just dreamed about him a couple of nights ago and it's been twelve years. My best to you and your family and your new addition.
Al

So sorry to hear your canine companion Shadow is gone, Joe.

Their passing is never easy. But with the memories he left, he'll really never be gone.

Many of you have met our dog Winston at various C-Brat gatherings the last couple of years. We are very sad to say that he passed away yesterday at the ripe old age (for an Airedale) of 13. He was a very good boy and we will miss him.

Scott and Laurie Mathews, Truly sorry to hear about your loss of Whinston. I know yall had many hours of fun and enjloyment together. Casey and Susan have lost their dog Jake too in Jul05 shortly after the Blakely Gathering.

Scott and Laurie-

Sorry to hear about Winston. Our pet friends are truly close family members that evoke a great sense of loss when they pass on.

We replaced Shadow, a ten year old Great Dane, with a new Dane, Misty, last October, and she has filled the void in our lives. Something worth considering once you get over the initial loss.

Best wishes!

Joe.

Scott and Laurie, very sorry to hear about Winston...

Scott and Laurie, so sorry to hear that good old Winston won't be rumbling on the docks any longer. At least not the earthly kind. It has just been in the last several years that I have come to know how important a part of the family these mutts can become, and my thoughts are with you.

Mike

Scott and Laurie, So sorry to hear about Winston. It is never easy to say good bye to our beloved pets. It is truly amazing how much a part of our lives they become. The love and loyalty that they shared, will always be a part of our lives. Robbi

Scott and Laurie,

So very sorry to read about Winston. Loved taking photos of him. He was very much a part of the C-Brat events and we will miss him.

Most sincerely,

Ruth and Joe

I sure like animals. Cats and dogs, they're great. Right now my furry dude's sprawled across my lap, all snoozed out and unconscious.

I hear they lower blood pressure, and the urge to kill. Anyway, lately I've noticed just how many breeds of dogs there are. Many! And what a kick they are to watch. Every day they're like a parade. Big ones, little ones, ball chasers, swimmers, guards, sock-tusslers, shrill barkers, crotch sniffers, and really fine companions.

Sweet picture and text, Dan. Nice post.

Sometimes I think about that, too. How we invite these furry friends into our lives knowing they'll eventually die a natural death. Or worse. But the love and companionship far outstrips the fear.

It's been almost a month. How are our animal friends faring?

My buster dude, he continues to be a glittering ornament on the landscape of my life. I just love him.
