Crabby Lou Comes Home

I guess if you are counting kayaks, I will count our Costco Intek Seahawk inflatable dinghy, which is about 9' - so you can boost that up to an even 50'...The Costco dinghy however is the next item to be replaced, I think it will be the 8'6" Mercury RU260 from Busters, or possible a Baltik (that is how it is spelled, Google it!), which is a little cheaper, so we will have to shave that back down in a bit (have to sell a few more things on Craigslist first!).

Pat- How many feet of boats do you now have, 25 + 16 = 41?

I about the rest of you folks?

Joe.

Incidentally, the guy we bought the CD16 from in Lakebay said he had only used her twice in his two and a half years of ownership, and that he knew the original owners, who lived in Graham, Washington. The name on the boat, still faintly visible, was Marge. Anybody know somebody in Graham who had a CD16 (or a wife) named Marge? He also told us that the original owner only used it in fresh water (this was after the sale, so I tend to believe it). The hull is in really incredible shape but the Johnson outboards are really O...L...D, original vintage 1992. He also said the hour meter, which shows 164 hours, is correct. We will see how long we can go before a re-power is needed, this is what I was most skeptical about in the several hours we were down there...the main is a 2 cycle oil injected jobbie, and we took her out on Bay Lake, and she runs like a champ, very light and LOTS of power, so who knows...It is pretty loud though, you are going to hear us coming from a ways away!

Do you think that it would be permissible for me to just turn my back to everyone during this ceremony, rather than spending money on a speech therapist?.

Absolutely!

So, Joe - are you going to count Tap's posts in my total?

Sure, as long as you play by the rules Oldgrowth Dave set up, including no fragmented posts to run the totals up by making 2,3, or move posts out of one!

Joe.

I may, however, deduct Patty's posts, since they really aren't yours!!!

Joe.

(We'll probably get booed out of the room Friday night at Seattle after the rest of the membershsip gets really tired of this!)

Joe

It's a wonderful little boat. And, as you know, that Johnson 2 stroke is an American classic. As for bells and whistles, all you really need is a bell and a whistle. Welcome to Brock's Navy. We dont need no stinkin twist cap!

Pat/Tap-

The guy I bought the Sea Ray from put 9 hours on it in 15 months, and said he didn't have time for the boat!

I'd say the hour-meters were a pretty good testimony to that!

(Wish he'd used it a bit more to keep the engines more active, but they're fine.)

Joe.

Yeah, we sea trialed the CD16 at Bay Lake and ran the Johnson 40, it started right up, and ran like a top, even though it has been used seldom since 1992. The seller could not get the Johnson 8 started, I figured I might have to take it in for some maintenance/repair work, but it fired right up for me when I got it home to my driveway, so it looks like we lucked on two old 2 cycle engines, we shall see anyway. One thing I can guarantee is that they WILL get more use in a year now than they have seen in the prior 14!

My brain was obviously a little sunburned when I read Tap's posting. Just brought the site back up and realized Pat bought another boat.

Guess I will go out an soak up some more of the Maui sun and finish the job.

Holy Catman Pat, nice looking boat. I think it was a little over a week ago you were sitting on Little Buddy and now look what happens. Should work great for crabbing and that short overnighter at Sucia. Just remember not to take too much stuff.

Congrats
Fred

Yep, just look what happens! You and Brock will have to explain one more time, though, how I stuff 5' 9" of me into about 5' of cockpit length...I still have to convince Patty that a camperback is a necessity of course. But I definitely see the possiblities here! Daydream is safe - Crabby Lou is NOT a replacement, it is a supplement! Easier to tow, easier to launch, cheaper to run, easier to retrieve - for those boating days when the CD25 seems like overkill. MOST overnighters are still going to be on Daydream, but a quickie out to Matia, well, who knows?

Huh? In a 16' Angler?....yeah, I suppose....

The Oh So Rev. Dave :wink

Bear in mind we are launching from Blaine or Squalicum - it really is a short distance out to Matia from either of those launches!

Patty here. Poor Pat. Do you all see what a sweet, naive man he is? Unless I have wrongly judged the Rev. Dave, I don't think he and Pat were talking about the same kind of "quickie." Am I right, Dave????

Hello Everybody, Just joined the site I have been following this site for several years great place here and lots of nice people. I have owned my 85 16 angler for 3 years now and I love the boat. It took me 3 years to save up the money to get her. I am looking at getting a 1982 Classic 22. And restoring her to near new condition. If anyone has an older Classic I would love to get some advice. Thanks Nick

I have been gone and did not have time to log on to this site for the last seven days. Not sure how many post I have to catch up on. Terri was suppose to occasionally check and tell me if anything important happened. Of course she said nothing important was happening. I was skimming so fast I did not realize that Tap was Pat until Dave’s post.

Congratulations on your new boat Pat, you will have as much fun on it as your 25.

I see you are still ahead of Joe but he is closing the gap.

I have to get busy reading. I estimating I still have 700 to 750 post to read.

C-Pirate - congratulations on joining the site. Stay involved and don't make this your only post. "C-Pirate" Good name for a boat.

Yep, you're right Patty!......those lawyer types take life waaaay to seriously! :wink

(Hey Pat, ....Live a little, Love a little. )

Pat,

When I told my wife that you had a 16 named "Crabby Lou" she said, why would someone name their boat "Crappy Loo"? :P :P :P
