Corrosion block

I know there are a lot of corrosion block products but I've always used WD-40 in the past. Any reason why I should not use this on my new Suzuki's?

I don't have a good reason not to use w-d40 but I think that corrosion X is a better product. You can safely spray electrical connections, even circuit boards for that matter with out harming them.

"Corrosion Block" is a much better protectant than WD 40.

As far as I know WD stands for "Water Displacement" and "40" means the product was the 40th formulation tested. WD 40 is basically fish oil (that's why you see it sprayed on lures )

Whoa, I gotta say something about that. I have to disagree - i think WD40 petroleum based for sure. The reason folks assocate WD40 with fishing lures, is because of this... Someone sprayed WD40 on a lure and then started fishing with it. The WD40 immediately dispersed into an awful cloud in the water, and with it took away the human scent. The fish then did not reject the lure due to no human scent.

Anyway, the whole idea of spraying lures with WD40 is illegal in Washington, because you are basically discharging oil in the water. Stick with Smelly Jelly.

Colobear's description of WD-40 is correct.

It is a solvent, not a lubricant. Even though it does a heck of a job at eliminating squeaks!

I drove tractor-trailer for UPS for many years. If any of us got grease on our clothes the first thing we did was spray them with WD-40! Great solvent.

Corrosion block is far better than W-D 40! Corrosion block will not wash off with water spray :wink: :beer

Corrosion Block is good for powerheads and electrical stuff on a regular basis , its relatively light and needs to be replenished every few months . Corrosion X is similarly light , and is used in the aircraft industry to preserve aluminum airframes . Boeshield, Corrosion X Heavy duty, and CRC heavy duty corrosion inhibitor as well as the Honda product are much heavier product and spray as a liquid and thicken or congeal to a very persistent waxy film . Good for trailer protection and battery terminals and such . Also available is molybdenum grease in aerosol as well as really thick but penetrating wire rope lubricants in spray form .Lots of products I have not mentioned . We dont even use WD 40 for fishing,much less anything else . It is a very temporary product , more like a very light oil or solvent [ PB Blaster is way better] as C-Gypsy and Colobear pointed out . However I think it is derived from Bananas . Thats what it smells like to me......
