control box for tohatsu auxiliary motor?

Hi,

I have a 4 HP Tohatsu on a CD-25 Angler which I use as a auxiliary motor. The Tohatsu currently has a control rod enabling steering from the Helm. Looking for something, (hopefully simple), for forward/reverse and throttle from the Hem. I recall some of the old Jonsons equipped with a simple control box and throttle setup.

Thanks in advance for thoughts and advise!

The throttle is controlled by a cable linkage from the handle and this could be translated to a remote cable--same for shifting. You can buy the side mount or top mount binicall boxes and run cables, with custom machined attatchement points. But the cables and fittings are all in the current West Marine catalogue pages 660 to 667. These are the same type cables used on the old OMC motors--and with some brackets should would fine on the current motors. I don't think it will be cheap--unless you go to a used boat part (consignment?) shop--and find some of the older parts for less. But the cables are fairly cheap, and it would pay to buy the newer ones. The older shifter/throttle units were separate, and it would be much easier to do a custom install with the separate units.
