Considering a fresh water washdown.

I'm considering putting a fresh water washdown in my C-Dory but was curious as to if anybody has done this before. If so, any recommendations and is it worth it?

Do you mean a raw water washdown? If you use fresh, you'll go through your tank in no time, unless your "raw" water is fresh water... It's an option on lots of the boats. Several TC installs as I recall and probably on the 22 as DIY things as well.

We have a fresh water washdown on our CD-25 and consider it well worth it. If you have been swimming in salt water, it is great to rinse off on the swim step. If you are a fisherman, you might have more use for a raw water washdown.
 
We put one on the( c-22 Duck ) Jennykatz We plumbed for freshwater washdown and pressure water for the sink a good thing to do yes you go through water but its worth it for saltwater swimmers like us . I believe it was a T fitting and a pump about $50-60 .Look into my jennykatz album under Duck picture 30 and 40 you will find it .

We have both raw water (via thru hull) and fresh water wash down. Our boat had an electric on demand pump for the sink and I just installed a T and added a faucet on the other side of our fresh water tank in the cockpit. Pictures in our album. Aside from the benifets of washing off salt water from your bodies, I like to empty the tank before trailering home and use the left over water to wash off the scum line on the boat and give the motor, brakes, and trailer a little fresh water before I get home to really wash it down right. The faucet really makes draining or flushing the freash water tank a breeze instead of having to hold down the valve on the sink till the tank empties.

Yes, a raw water washdown is a good idea, I just don't like the idea of a thru hull fitting on a balsa core boat, if not done properly it can cause some major issues, so what I did is plumb a hose over the transom and secured it to the swimgrid. This way no holes in the bottom of the boat, make sure you use an inline strainer to save your pump. You may want to plumb this to your fresh water tank as well so you can use it to flush your engines after use in salt water, just use a couple of ball valves, one on your raw and one on the fresh water line.
