Colorado floods

They live in a place pretty safe from the big floods, and about a mile from our son, their local lake is probably high but they should be OK.

My mother was evacuated from her retirement home in Boulder and went to stay with my sister in Boulder. My sister's basement got flooded. She had just had some plumbing work done, and the contractor put in a new sump pump and a new water heater. They had been without hot water for four days. Mom went back to the rest home today.

Most of the rains fell north of Denver and in a band to the east. Those areas were hard hit and have extensive damage -- the Pres. declared it a disaster area and it is. Many of the canyons had flash floods and there were deaths when cars were swept off roads or houses in the low areas were flooded.

We live to the southwest of Denver so fortunately missed the heavy rains and floods. We had a cabin rented for a mountain weekend, and a niece who came out to join our family. Road washed out so that was cancelled.

Thanks for the concern.

Now the cleanup and aid to the folks who were hard hit.
