The information is easily obtained at the C Dory web site:
C Dory 25 cockpit is 4'8" long and 7'1" wide
Venture 23 cockpit is 5'1" long and 6'1" wide.

Thus the area of the C Dory 25 is larger than the Venture 23 by a couple of square feet, mostly because of the increased width, even then the Venture 23 is 5" longer. Also look at how the "step" is molded into the 23.
 
Why would the 25 be wider? They both have a 8''6" beam? Is it the small steps on each side in the 23? I plan to cover those with bench seats. If so then the wouldn't the Venture 23 have a bigger cockpit footprint? I've only seen the one 23 at Hontoon....
 
Also the major feature of a "Semi Dory" is the flare of the hull sides, with a relatively narrow hull bottom. Two hulls could have the same "Beam" of 8.5 feet and conventional boat might have a cockpit floor over 8 feet wide, and a semi dory would have a bottom beam of only 7 feet.
 
We have the cape cruiser venture same hull as cd venture

We can get 4 chairs in the cockpit the cd25 is wider and will fit 4 chairs also .
The cd -22 can really only fit 2 chairs thats why we bought the venture 23 bigger cockpit and very nice ride
