My name is Mark Toland and I am the president of C-Dory Inc., the company that developed the C-Dory line of boats and built them until October of 2000. Boats built by C-Dory Inc. have the DOR prefix to their serial numbers.
Hello Mark, and welcome to our little Pub. My name is Mike Barber, and I own DOR25006H696, one of the finest products your company ever built. I was delighted to see your name on the Memberlist, and welcome your comments to the degree you are free to offer them. As with many others on here, I would like to see you stick around the place and be willing to contribute some historical perspective to the many questions that come up. (Since you are soon to be completely retired, perhaps you can find time to go back through the 27,000 posts and reply to some! Like maybe in the Trim Tab section - that could get lively.)
In sincerity, you are truly welcome here and encouraged to jump into any discussions that interest you. Thank you for your introductory post, and for signing onto our site.

And, in the event that it is determined that there has been some occurrence of impropriety or malfeasance, we can also deal with that from a realistic, factual point of view.
In a greater sense, Joe, beyond offering our personally held opinions and venting whatever emotions they inspire, such as many have been doing here, we don't want to deal with that on this forum from any aspect. Truth be told, it is really none of our business. Nor do we wish for Messrs. Toland and Reynolds to try and resolve or exacerbate the issue on these boards. Regardless of the eventual resolution, the specifics of which we will rightfully never know, the lone remaining fact is that we as consumers have no vested stake in it other than the benefits that naturally follow a growth in the marketplace.
I think that was worded as intended. I am not picking on you, Joe, nor singling out your comments for rebuke. All the comments posted have merit within the sphere of this meager forum and are welcome; indeed they are interesting, appreciated and encouraged. It was my personal decision up to now to stay out of this discussion for reasons probably meaningful only to me. But as you do in your unique way (thus far rivaled only by the abilities of DoD and Catman), you brought me to spit out as many words as possible before my own foot plugs my mouth.
I think the Cape Cruiser is a fine looking boat, and will serve very well the people who choose to own it. I either agree or disagree with all the posted remarks about the differences and similarities between the CC and the CD. (That is about as political as my common sense will allow me to get. But you have to admit, that sentence is the essence of politics.) And when I visit the CC display at the upcoming boat show, I will fully expect to be presented with, at the very least, a CC hat as acknowledgement of the fantastic method the designers so belatedly came up with to let the first mate ride facing forward. I will not, however, wear the hat to the CD factory that evening (who knows, they might give me another one). Beyond that, those guys will have to figure out how to run their businesses without my help. Now then, if both of them sell out to Brunswick - that's a whole 'nother story.

I hope some CCs show up to our CD rendevous along with some ACBs and even a few Bayliners!
Be careful what you wish for. This is not a yacht club, nor is it The Hull Truth. The next thing you know, B~C's buddy from Washougal will want to join in, and one of us will be stuck towing his boat around.
There is very little chance of a Cape Cruiser forum ever showing up on the C-Brat Index. But if a Cape Cruiser anchored up next to me at the sturgeon grounds, I would tip my C-Dory hat to the skipper and crew, and offer any help they may need. Who knows, I might even dig out my old CC hat for the day. And if a group of CC owners should create a site of their own as friendly, helpful and entertaining as this one, I would certainly join and participate, expecting to be nothing more than a grateful guest. Unless they kick me out. Then, well, ........... never mind.
Mike
