Some of you long time contributors may remember "Charlie One Shoe"
He joined the C Brats in 2007. Unfortunately, his last post was in March 2013 and he passed away about one month later.

Val and I were graced to meet his life partner "Bonnie" from whom we also bought his beloved C Dory "Seaduced" One of the favorite memories Bonnie and Charlie shared together was when a pod of grey whales came near their C Dory and a baby whale swam up to them, under the boat, and out the other side.

Its our intention to carry on the same passion for the water, the outdoors, and the C Dory world that Charlie had. The following is one of my all time favorite quotes from Charlie's posts:

" I'm 82 years old and still try to get in a little fishing! Most of my old friends are gone or they have an easy chair in front of the TV and thats where they stay. I try to keep pushing myself to get out and do stuff... anyway that something to plan for."

I have contracted Cory Gracey to haul the "Seaduced" up to Blaine Wa. within a week or so. If you happen to see her on the I-5 heading north--
tip your hat to Charlie, and raise your glass to wonderful memories Charlie left for those who loved him to treasure.

My wife and I planned for many years to take a mid-life sabbatical and island hop south to South America. We finally found THE boat in storage at Indian Town Marina, Fl. We called the owner of MATHILDA, George A. in New York and bought the boat. George was a great guy. Said he had spent 7 seasons cruising the Bahamas and Florida, but his original plan to see Venezuela, well just got postponed, and now his health prevented it. He named the boat MATHILDA, after the old song, "Mathilda, she take the money and run Venezuela...."

When we returned, I called George to tell him that MATHILDA had made the trip. His wife said George had passed the year before, but she knew it would have brightened his day to know his old boat saw Puerto LaCruz.

I hope Charley and George are sharing fair winds and calm seas.
 
Thanks so much for your thoughtful reflections, David and Val. It warms my heart that you even took the time to do that. This kind of connection is what Chuck liked about the CBrats site - lots of "real" folks sharing the same passion he had for the water, fishing, and living life to the fullest. It wouldn't surprise me if he had a hand in seeing that his beloved boat ended up in the right hands. Many happy travels!
