Changing my own oil; need some backup!

Well, I got the broken Zerk fitting out. Pretty easy, actually. I've written it up at Navagear, but here are the pictures:

Same thing just happened on our '05 Honda 40. It broke apart easily while pulling the gun off. I've worked around heavy equipment and have never seen this either.
I wonder how many defective zerks there are out there?
