The response from Kodiak from my email
Good morning David,
The Dacroment is a dipped coating process similar to silver cad that we used.. We call it Dac as it is a cheaper alternative to SS
The ecoat is more less a powder coating that doesn’t last well at all in Saltwater.. The Dac has a saltwater test of 300 to 400 hours which is a lot better then the e-coat at 200 to 300 hours.. depends on use and if rinsed when removed from a saltwater environment.
Stainless is double the price but if you want years of troublefree problems it is the only way to go.. We have a new coating that is called Koda guard. We are still in testing and it looks very promising .. Its about ¾ of the price of stainless steel and after a year of testing we are pleased with the results..
You can run them through multiable salt water tests on a bench but you always get harsher results when put in the ocean.. Crazy as it sounds.. I Have had calipers fail from 1 year and I have seen them go 4+ years.. Corrosion is a tuff issue with carbon steel..
Thanks for inquiring and I hope you continue to have the best of luck with Kodiak brakes..

I guess e-coat is different than the regular cad plating
