Still waiting for Pacific Trailers to ship the parts...we have given notice to terminate our slip rental at Blaine Marina. We have to be out by September 10, so may have one more potential off-center retrieval, it is really hit and/pr miss.
Many have commented on the angst caused by pulling the boat out only to find it sitting way to far to one side or the other. Now usually this isn’t a big issue but at times it’s so far over that the chines are catching on top of the guide rail so the weight of the boat is on it. The last time it actually broke the bolts holding the guide board to the upright support. Between all the comments here and the fact that I find it embarrassing in the extreme to be pulling a boat down the road sitting way off center I have come up with the perfect solution.
I have pictures worth a thousand words but the short story is this makes loading the boat a cinch even without a dock helper. I will try to load pictures!

To post pictures, you need to use the "",[/b] not the "[b][[u]URL[/u]]"[/b] command. The photo is best put in your album, and that address linked to what you want to display on the forum. Photos have to be in one of the stardard formats, and [b]jpeg [/b]works the best on this forum.
Looking at your avatar it appears that you do not have an album. Ask TyBoo or DaNag for an album, and you will be set to go.
This is even more of an issue in the C Dory 25, where it barely fits between the fenders of many trailers. Normal "PVC over pipe" guideons do not have the strength to center the boat. They are visual aids. I make sure the boat is centered when Marie drives the truck forward to "Set" the boat's position on the trailer.
This whole problem is worse if you are power loading (which is frowned upon at most ramps.

My boat sits between the fenders of my trailer. It cans sometimes be sitting on one or the other fender when being pulled out. It is simple to just back the trailer back into the water and then give the boat a shove from the dock in the right direction for it to sit properly.
