CDory Cabin Keys

I have been scouring local key shops high and low to get a copy made of the key to the cabin door on my 2000 CD-22. I only have one and don't relish the thought of losing my only key. Does anybody have any great ideas? The final stop was the largest key/lock/locksmith place in town and even he didn't have a blank for the key, which says it's made in Sweden. Guess I'll have to try the factory unless somebody else has another source.

I have had several keys for our 25 made at:

www.harryslocksmith.com
2213 Main Street
Vancouver, WA 98660-2640
(360) 696-4901

They should be able to provide a blank to you. If you need me to go down to show them my key let me know. Give me a PM and provide me your phone number.

Lots of different keys on C-Dorys. Depends on model, year and door type and where the mfr that year could buy his hardware. This has come up many times.

Search on Google using this: door key 22 site:c-brats.com

Or, alternatively, THIS will take you there directly.

I got 22 "hits", didn't have time to check them out but you're answer is in there somewhere.

The locks and keys are made by TrioVing of Norway. The blanks are pricey, about $8. My spares are on an ilco blank # T06. My local locksmith had to order 10 to get them. Hope this helps.

One of those google search sites led to a post that linked locks to Diamond Sea Glaze. The maker of our doors and windows on most of the boats. THIS page lists the lock sets they have and ordering info is on the website. Roger is right, I think it's a Troving...

8$ Pricy? C'mon Roger, this is a boat, $80 would be "pricy" but not $8

No wonder this site is so great, somebody always has an answer. Looks like I have tons of stuff to examine, but thanks to everybody! Hopefully I can come up with the guy who had the blanks. That would be the easiest thing to do. Appreciate all the replies!

Tony,
I expect your lock is like mine: If the key says Mobella and has a three digit number on it, call 727-531-7779 and you can order spare keys using the three digit number on your key. It worked for my 2002 C-Dory a few years ago.

Ken, you're right, mine say Mobella. I'll give that number a call and see what I discover. Never realized what a pain this whole deal would be, but this forum sure ends up having a lot of information! :-) Thanks

I spoke with Patrick at Harrys yesterday. The key for our 05 CD 25 is a TrioVing TC6 and they have 2 blanks at $10 each. Patrick indicated that the local demand was from Christensen Yachts. (shipyard located in Vancouver WA) That explains why our locksmith has the blanks.

It sounds like C-Dory used other locksets at times. Harrys may still have what you need. They indicated they would be willing to send you the blanks.

Good luck,

Don

If you have the TroVing key, you can order blanks from Diamond Sea Glaze, the company that makes our windows. They sell any quantity, from 1 up, and when I called they were helpful and friendly. They also helped me find someone in my area who was qualified to adjust the tightness of the window.

In addition to making our windows, they also sell locks and doors for boats. I suspect that this is how a boat made in Washington ended up with a key from Norway.

Although I have not had it happen, a locksmith that I consider knowledgeable has advised me, that should I ever get locked out and need to have the lock picked, it will take someone who has a European lock-pick set as the inside is different from North American locks. Good reason to always have an extra set with you.

Interesting point about a boat made in Washington having a lock & key made in Norway.

My Sea Ray, made in Indiana, has a push-button lock on the cabin door made by a different manufacturer from Norway (!)

Not only can't I get a blank anywhere in Redding, but also the closest locksmith with the special machine to cut the key is in Sacramento!

"The key blank, is only available through Abloy dealers.

Must be a Parallel Universe Thing!

My house in Anacortes, was previously owned by a Swiss couple. They installed Swiss-made deadbolt/door lock hardware on the front door for no good reason that I can see other than it was made in Switzerland. Naturally, the keys are ultra-special, ultra-expensive, and made only in Switzerland. The keys look a bit like a modern auto key -- smooth edges and dimples on both flat sides. It is a royal pain that I will eventually replace (and I am 1/4 Swiss myself!)

For future reference, my particular boat uses the Mobella lock and I finally found a source for the keys:

http://mysecuritypro.com/

This place has blanks for tons of boats, but I didn't find anything on the TrioVing keys.

But, if you need Mobella keys, this is the place to go.
