CD 14 Angler?

Hey All,

I am a newly registered C-Brat but I've been checking out this forum for years. After owning a few Boston whalers I am very interested in finding my first C-Dory. I recently missed an opportunity at a 16' Angler, however I have a shot at a 14'. My question is this - how suitable is the 14' C-Dory for a saltwater bay scenario? I can't seem to find many details on this boat. I am debating on either waiting for another 16 to pop up or pulling the trigger now on the 14. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

-John

I had a 16 and primarily ran in a saltwater bay. The 16's are amazing bay boats (protected waters with generally low seas).

I would wait for another 16 to come on the market. Those 14's must be tiny.....

John,
I have a 14 C-Dory. They are rare and cute, but IMHO are too small to work as a good bay boat. You can fish 2 people out of a 14, but even that is tight.

If you want a bay boat, I'd wait for a 16.

The 14 vs 16 question was discussed here within the past 6 months or so, and the thread should be able to be located with a little work.

My understanding is the 14 is quite a bit smaller than the 16, and by more than just the 2 feet of length.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies. Based on your feedback, I don't think the C-Dory 14 is right for me. I like to run up the Northern CA coast, and it sounds like the 14' CD might not be quite up for the task. It looks like a great little boat though, I hope this one finds a good home.

I'll keep my eye out for a 16' Angler. If anyone is looking to find a new home for one of these under $10k, let me know!

I am thinking of selling my 87 angler 16 when I return to BC from Australia next month. The bad news for you is it is on Vancouver Island. The good news for you is it is on Vancouver Island and the exchange rate is very favorable for Americans. Will be asking $10,500 US. I have a few pics in my c-jeep album.
Cheers
