I need to replace the canvas camper back on my cd22. Any suggestions as to where that could be done in the Bellingham area? I would prefer a company that is familiar with cd22's. PM me if you prefer.

Probably a lot of shops could take apart your old one and use it as a template for the new one, but you could take the boat to Seattle and get King Marine Canvas to work on it. They've done a ton of C-Dory camper backs, and they used to be the OEM interior canvas maker, I believe. Some people say they haven't had ideal experiences with King, but my camper back and privacy curtains turned out very well.

Jon,
Who every does the job has to work with the way your frames are set up, as well as the current snaps, and awning rail on the cabin top. Just don't settle for a "pattern" job, or you may find many fittings which are in the wrong place.

I am one who has had some variable experience with King. The camper back for the 25 was not at all good--sure it worked, but comparing with a good custom job, it was not good. I posted the sloppy work on the current King Canvas camper back, where none of the snaps ere properly "set".

If you were there, and supervised what was done I am sure that King can do a good job--but I would make sure that they made it fit to your boat--not to their templates.

My wife and I had Sunbrella Charcoal Gray, although a nice color when the sun came out it made the camperback significantly hotter. A nice thing in fall and winter but not year round. As well I personally believe the light colors fade less. The next camper back most likely will be tan.
