Cabin door lock problem

I have a cabin door lock problem on my 22' cruiser. The door handles attach to an aluminum rod which activates a plastic gear in the lock. Due to wear and/or misuse the aluminum rod has caused the plastic gear to become round instead of square. I need to find a replacement lock. Until I locate one, I must remove the whole lock assembly in order to get into the cabin. The factory has been less than helpful. Any thoughts?
