Please note and share with friends that I have listed my boat for sale in the for sale section.
1992 22' Cruiser West Coast

Sale is dependent upon me getting the larger C-Dory I am currently investigating.

Sorry to hear you're selling C-Pelican but glad to see only if you move up to a larger boat. Now that you get tornados in Huntington Harbor a bigger boat is a good idea!

I love the stainless davit you have on the boat -- did you build it or have it built? I have the same kicker and have a block and tackle rig, but a davit like that would be much easier and safer.

Related question re: C-Pelican: is it significantly stronger than a Garhauer Davit (it looks like it!) And what do you use it for?

Good mornming Matt & Warren,

Yes, it is "interesting", lol, trying to sell a boat to buy another boat....
I think the oddd's are long but will give it a shot!

Yes. pretty wild re the tornado in the harbour there. Did you see the pic of the catamaran lifted out of the water and landing on two other boats?!

The davit is the best!
I had it made at "Riley Marine Products" in Long Beach. Phone: 562.435.5233
The NICEST people I have met in the business end of boating.
Besides doing all my stainless work and taking the time to "talk" boating, I was welcomed to watch the work being done, guide, "give and take" ideas, and over and above that, I needed to put a new axle on my trailer and he let me do all the work there in his yard (as I live 100 miles away from his shop) and he even bought all the parts for me at his cost!?

I use it for two things regularly.

One, to transfer the kicker motor to the dinghy and to the dock.

Two, I attach a Folbe puller and use it to retrieve my lobster hoop nets. No more bending over at a 45 degree angle to lift the nets, less "wetness",and very fast retrieval also. Lets me look for the bugs in even deeper, less explored waters with ease.

How does it compare to the Garhauer? I can't comment as I never saw or used one of those personally.

Jeff

Riley Marine made all of the new SS works I put on the Cal 46 in 1992--and it was excellent. This included a davit--which I used to pick up a 25 hp electric start commercial outboard for the RIB. It was different than the Garhauer, but of excellent construction--don't know how Jeff's compares. Agree that Riley is a great outfit--they fabed in the shop and then did the final welding on the boat--took it back to the shop for polishing--one piece was a Radar arch 9' high, 10 feet wide and 3 feet fore and aft--so it was not small or light....Great folks.
