Thanks for the encouragement. Great effort in getting the crew off the '28 cruiser!

I am afraid you had quicker and better judgement than I did, since my engines shut themselves off. The one in question (starboard, that shut itself off the second day) seemed to run OK after got started again, but might still be a little something in the intake, since flow appears a little off (very slightly reduced). Wonder if I can reverse flush, i.e., send water through the output??

Check to see if the 'pee' hole is partially blocked. You can usually clear it with a small wire.

You may want to buy a water hose "Y" adaptor with shut-off valves from a local hardware store and 2 engine flush adaptors for the engines; such as I have for my twins. I can flush both engines at the same time and this cuts my time in half as well as gives a comparison of water flow.

I would then use some 'Salt Away' with the adaptor and cycle the water pressure ON-OFF-ON with a ball-cock type valve to help give a little shock to the plumbing and run it till both engines have the same extended stream of water from the 'pee' hole. With city water, usually abt 40-60psi, the stream can appear to to shoot straight out toward the ground.

I would try to use the "ears" and run some fresh water thru under pressure. This would allow you to get anything that can pass thru the thermostat, etc.. NEVER run an OB without water to the intake.

Just some thoughts.

I use the Salt Away with an extended flush after every outing before I have Sea Angel placed back in the barn.

Thank you for the great advice regarding water pressure, Salt Away, very quick on-off-on shock and Y adaptor! Also, going to check pee holes today. Question: How is Salt Away administered/applied... perhaps a mixing canister (garden supply store) attached to hose leading to ears??

Gerry, they sell a mixing device ( like the liquid fertilizers use) that supposedly gives you the right concentration. I use it on my twin Suzi 150's that have two flushing ports, upper and lower and do one engine at a time.

Can't say I had a 2014 season, yet. I have spinal issues that give me pause abt being on the boat. Mainly if I have to go forward I don't trust myself to keep from falling since I had that happen once before at home. I always wear a PFD so that would not be too much of an issue by itself.

I do manage to enjoy my time cleaning and puttering with projects around the boat when it is on the work rack, as well as a picnic on the back deck.

Hopefully some one will purchase Sea Angel and invest the love into it as we have. If this does not happen, I have already paid for the dry storage for another year of aft deck picnics on the rack. All this is a shame for it still looks like new.

I am very sorry to hear that spinal issues have diminished your time on Sea Angel! However, as you point out, just doing anything around or about our boats is enjoyable.

Considering that C-Dorys are highly sought after, I have no doubt you will find many who would be very happy to provide Sea Angel with a new, loving home port. When I was looking for another boat, back in the fall of 2010, and after hundreds of hours of consideration, my heart was absolutely set on the CD-25. After making my final decision, I drove 640 miles, one-way (to 125 miles north of Toronto, Canada), to purchase and trailer home our wonderful Dori Den. If you are willing to offer a good deal (I got a great deal from and exceptionally kind seller), I am fairly certain there will be no paucity of interested buyers. Often, I am silently thankful to Dori Den’s previous owner (the fine Canadian gentleman, A.B.) for his extraordinary thoughtfulness and kindness.

If you are ever in Ocean City, Maryland, it would be my pleasure to invite you aboard Dori Den. We could ensure your safety by securing you to the boat, much like Odysseus when encountering the Sirens of Titan…but for you, we could leave out the ear-plugs :-) In all seriousness, your great experience would be most welcome and it would be an honor to negotiate the OC inlet and head out to blue water with you.

I checked out Sea Angel's photo album...WOW! She is a beautiful boat!
Interior and exterior photos show she has been extremely well, and lovingly, maintained...and she has some great bells and whistles! Thanks for the ideas.

Honestly, if I were you, I don't think I could part with her...for I too know the enjoyment of cockpit picnics, in and out of the water...and in the cabin or v-berth, I always feel the movement of the water...imagined or not. But, if I did sell a boat I have loved so well...it would only be to a very special individual and likely not the highest bidder...a person I was certain would appreciate are care for her maximally...and remember who she came from!

You have expressed my thoughts and heart. I think I have been trying to talk myself out of keeping Sea Angel to satisfy my mind and not my heart.

I guess you don't boat for over 60 years and not have a twinge. There are regrets of waters not traveled, but I'm blessed by the memories I do have and shared.

There are many on this site that have been a great encouragement to me, too many to mention; do take advantage of this for yourself. I do hope and plan to stick around to add my little bit of experience to the 'hints & kinks' of the helps to those interested. I have learned a lot from this site, don't be afraid to ask the simplest of questions for there is most likely someone sitting in the wings with the same question.

I do start to be a philosopher when it starts to get late in the evening, sorry.
