The 22 foot C-Dory, R-Matey, and its spirited crew, old farts, departed Everett Friday morning for Tacoma. Our grandson was playing on the Lynden football team against Sedro Woolley for the Washington State A2 Championship, in the Tacoma Dome. Sorry to say that Lynden lost to Sedro Woolley. However, very happy that our grandson made the first touchdown for the Lynden Lions. The crowd went wild.
We moored at the Dock Street Marina which is just a short walk to the Tacoma Dome or one could take the free trolley. We've been married 53 years and discovered that we'd never been on a trolley together. We took the trolley. What fun!
Puget Sound was loaded with debris: Logs, boards, stumps, even a propane bottle. We passed through a couple of rain squalls just to be greeted with more rain. Other than the Victoria Clipper heading north, there were no other boats out on the Sound. It was a good trip.
We were sitting right in the middle of some beautiful big boats all lit up with Christmas lights. I'm sure some of these folks looked at our little C-Dory and thought, "Oh, those poor people!" That is not the case when we are with them at the fuel dock.
After the game, we had a delicious dinner at Johnny's Seafood on Dock Street. Sunday morning about 7:15, we departed the marina and headed north. More debris in the water than on Friday. After three days and two nights on the boat, we were safely back in Everett by 11 am.
