C-Dory Sightings

I was at the fuel dock in Tahsis when the C-Dory Chica came in. Apparently a charter boat. I ran into the captain again in town. He warned me about taking my bike up the river road (bears by the dump) and going into the open ocean (swells off Bajo Point). Fortunately, I'd already done both and survived.

My son saw probably the only bowpicker C-Dory tied up in the Whittier harbor last week. I have a picture of it in an email but do not know how to post it.

Yesterday in Homer I saw a 27' stern drive, a 25' Tomcat, a 24' Tomcat, a 16', a 22' angler and a 22' cruiser as well as my 26' ProAngler.

It looks like the bow roller assembly as well as the net reel have been removed and it is being used s a sport fishing boat.
This was taken in the Whittier, Alaska harbor several days ago.
I hope you all enjoy seeing this unusual CD.

As we were anchored at Blind Island yesterday, we saw Lucille, a CD22 pull in and anchor a short distance away. I rowed over and said hello. Steve and Judy from Eugene, OR, are on their way to the Gulf Islands, and I wished them a good cruise!

We saw a brand new Venture 23 at Master Marine in Mount Vernon of all places. I say that because although MM is a C-Dory dealer, they don't seem to sell many. The boat was trimmed in light gray with a 140hp Suzuki and a King Trailer. I didn't see a price.

Just spent a few days visiting with Gene and Margaret on Reef Madness, a Tom Cat. They came into Sullivan Bay Marina in the Broughtons, BC, Canada while we were there. They had just made a three day transit from Ketchikan, AK to Sullivan Bay. For anyone considering a Tom Cat, that indicates the speed potential available.

Gene and Margaret, if you read this, thanks for the King Salmon filet, we have enjoyed it for two nights, and will make a Caesar salad from it tomorrow.

A belated sighting report. We saw SleepyC piloted by Harvey at Port Harvey Marina in early August. He was on the last day of his Broughton Islands cruise.

Harvey, I am sorry that we did not have longer to talk that afternoon. I was exhausted from lack of sleep and several days travel.

So fun to spend time with Larry & Nancy on Jacari Maru at Sullivan Bay in the Broughtons. We continued on to Lagoon Cove for a couple windy nights. Currently at Gorge Harbour on Cortez Island. We are docked in the shadows of some big fancy yachts. Not as warm and friendly here as Sullivan Bay. Well...it is warm. Heading to Nanimo today. Larry & Nancy, glad you enjoyed the salmon. We miss you!

Went crabbing and fishing out of Coos Bay, Oregon this past weekend. Saw another C-Dory 22 down by the "Glass House".
After, while cleaning the boat, a lady came by and said "We saw you out on the water, we were the other C-Dory- the 'Dory K'-- (I hope I got that right)
Always nice to see another C-Dory on the water.

Ran to Naha Bay from Ketchikan yesterday just to get out and enjoy the sun. Went in my 16 Cruiser and found a 16 Angler already tied up at the dock. It is an unusual size here so I was excited to see her. The owner was up the trail picking berries while her dog was greeting and guarding the dock!

HI Larry,

Thanks for Hailing me. Glad the AIS is putting out. Nice surprise to hear you on the VHF. Understand being tired, no problem, we'll catch up next trip, somewhere. Good to see you again. (Good to see anything/anybody again after that goofball in the tin can almost ran over me. Came near enough, almost put me up onto those rocks.)

I've been followed by a C-Dory 26 Venture* on my way south on I-75.
It even dodged Matthew with me by going west to Tallahassee.
OMG it's toggled to my vehicle now in the parking lot!
Tows so nice I didn't even realize it was behind me...

Aye.

Grandma says, "Look behind you once in a while to keep track of where you have been"
Grandpa says, "You will live longer if you know what is going on all around you, all the time."

Glad your trip went well. I learned along time ago, when you're pulling a trailer, you take the outs side line on the turns.
