C-Dory Sightings

While on board one of the USCG AUX vessels today accompanying the native tribal canoes that are participating in the Salish Sea Canoe Journey,
I saw a 22' C-Dory traveling with them. Unfortunately, we were too far away from the C-Dory to read the vessel's name. (This was the leg of the voyage from Cama Beach to Swinomish).
I'm guessing that I know who it was, but am unsure. The person I'm thinking of has done it before while his wife paddles in one of the canoes.
At any rate, I enjoyed being dry under the cover of an enclosed cabin while the rain was falling and the big 300 HP Verado sure does beat paddling.... :smilep .
 
Patty here. Could have been Peter on C-Dancer. That was their plan when we traveled with them last week in the San Juans. Peter was going to be Caryn's personal support boat while she paddled. Right time, right area.

Yup, that was me. Were you on that big Coast Guard Auxilliary boat in front of Camma Beach yesterday morning? I was doing a little housekeeping 25 yards from you. However, if you're talking about a C-Dory going to Swinomish, that wasn't me. I ended up leaving Camma Beach and driving back to Seattle. There was a couple of other C-Dory support boats on the Canoe Journey but I couldn't read the names either.

I didn't think it looked like your vessel. I was on a 26' Weldcraft with a 300 HP Verado. Gotta say, that vessel scoots! and surprisingly was fuel efficient. We cruised from Everett to Swinomish at 24 Knots. Apparently it can squeeze out about 45 knots. When up on step, it left little wake.
We ended up towing one canoe from Strawberry Point to the entrance to Swinomish Channel. They were well behind all the others. We saw them in the morning between Tulalip and Cama Beach.
 
Yesterday whole on an Auxiliary patrol south of the area Fireman Dave patrolled I noticed a 16 ft C-Dory buzzing around amongst these beautiful wooden canoes. The boat was serving in a support role and was marked Tribal Police.

It is always enjoyable to see a C-Dory!

Saw Triple J on Diamond at the Seward hwy this morning. Looked like it was ready for fun. Also saw an older 22 with a blue stripe in town Monday morning. No name that I could see.

The steroidially challenged Kingfisher II is next door in Anacortes Marina where we also noted a CD-16 owned by a famous C-Brat of CG-Aux and Beer production fame hiding last week.
Bob and Darlene York bought Kingfisher from us and have recently been cruising in the Islands.

Starcraft Tom and Susan, you are not alone. Last week, I saw a 27' C-Dory exactly like yours at the Edmonds Fuel Dock. No name on the boat. Two or three young fisher guys seeking salmon in the sound.

Funny thing was we where only about 2 miles behind them on the highway. He had blown a tire and had to put on a spare but the spare was looking really bad. So we offered to give them my spare from the trailer at the house, boat is in the marina, to get them home. Only problem is that my tires are 14 inch and his are 15 inch so no joy there. We end up having them stay the night at our house in the guest room and then went to les Schwab in marysville this morning for two new tires. Les schwab had them in and out in 20 minutes. So Don was on the road at 9:40 this morning heading south hoping not to hit traffic. Nice to have visitors at the house.

We had a nice visit with Tom and Susan. Thanks for the hospitality and assistance. It's nice having an extended Brat family in the area. We did hit some traffic on I-5 that was exacerbated by a lightning storm and downpour in Seattle.

Saw a green 25 on the seward hwy near Girdwood today. Wish my boat was here.
 
We discovered Discovery! This morning at about 8 the were cruising south on I-84, just north of Boise. We were going north. We waed frantically across the wide median but, apparently they were not on the lookout for dark grey Ford Escapes. Hope they have a good trip home.
 
Going through Sequim earlier this week, I saw either a 19 or a 22 Angler behind a 30ish foot motor home. They were parked, but I was on the way to an appointment, and when ai came back it was gone. Sorry, but I didn't see a name on the vessel. Hope your trip went well.

driving home from Vancouver wa we spotted Long Story headed south on I-5. we waved. also saw a 22 but did not get the name. When we got home we decided on a walk around the boat ramp in everett and spotted a 25 ranger being loaded on a trailer.

I was visiting my grand father for his 91st birthday and we got to looking at photo albums. He and my grand mother ( she just passed a few weeks ago) traveled Alaska in 87 or so? while looking thru the photos I spotted two different c-dorys at docks. One 22 angler and one 22 cruiser. I could not make out the names.
 
Saturday am while driving I 80 east toward Truckee we spotted our 1st 26 Venture, no name red with Honda 150, looked like it came right out of the factory, looking at the 26's it is probably the one out of New Mexico.
 
Penny and I boated over to lummi island to see her brother and his wife who were staying at our cabin for a short vacation. At the LISE dock we saw an 81 classic power by an old 70hp Johnson. Talked to the owner briefly but he was in a hurry to retrieve some crab pots. Later on the way home from Hilton harbor we saw a red stripe 22. Think the name was Happy Daze.
 
Saw a 2006 or later 22 cruiser "Sea-Lark" Washington registration, heading east from Anacortes today
