C-Dory History

From a discussion with a friend, a couple of questions have come up. Although the answers are likely on the site, I have not been able to find them after searching so here they are:

1) When was the first CD22 built?

2) When was the "major" hull change in the 22?

Thanks.

Jim, you are right, it's here somewhere.... The first CD22 was built in 1981 I believe, it was what we call the "classic" model. The next mod came in about 1987 and the hull has been the same since. There have been many changes, including the shift to the molded interior in 2007 or 8, which I do not care for because it's too hard to modify.

poke around some more, you'll find the answers. Try searching on <classic> and see what comes up.

Charlie & Ken --

Thanks for the rapid responses and the info. The link from Ken works and is a wealth of info. It would be nice if there was a way to pull that info into a post that lived in an easily accessible spot on this site. Some lists have "stickeys" that readily accessible and contain the kind of information that gets asked again and again. Perhaps there might be something like this in the redesign.

Probably good to put the old web site on the list server--since it is now hard to access from the C Dory web site. Lots of great information which might be lost.

I first saw a C Dory before 1981--and I think it was 1980. In S. Calif.

Speaking of history, I managed to find the construction details about the Tomcat 24. I assume the Tomcat 255 is built the same way but I'm not certain.

You gonna keep that a secret? Or share it with your C-Buddies??

Ha ha, yeah we part-time passenger Captains make the big bucks! :smiled

Hi Charlie,
I verified the link below still works. It shows the details on the Tomcat 24 (see construction link on the page). I wonder how much this has changed (if at all) with our models/years?

The Admiral and I returned from a short trip to Paris where I popped the question. I figure I'm doing my small part to ensure the C-Brat Captains continue to be known among the Admirals as a romantic bunch :D

Congratulations to you and the Admiral! Very romantic!

The link was great--but didn't specify exact number of layers and type of each layer. I suspect that there are some differences in the current boats. Certainly the "foam blocks" seem to have been eliminated.

It would be most interesting if the exact lamination schedule was posted.

Matt, congratulations.... That's a darn good reason to go to Paris! Sally and I have been together for over 50 years, married for 43+. May you have that many and even more!
