Howdy, C-Brats.

C-Dory contacted me today, and asked if I would post a link to a survey they've put together. CLICK HERE if you've got a spare minute or two, and would like to give them some marketing feedback.

Seems okay to me. Stimulates some interesting speculation.

Yup...what's with the sailboat question?

Also, I would have liked to see a comment field. Given the lack of one, I added a few thoughts in the "where do you live" box.

So much for mine being anonymous...

I just completed the survey. I respect the factory's efforts and their willingness to open themselves up to potentially nasty answers.

I am very pleased with my C-Dory 22 Cruiser, and even more pleased with my dealer (Mobile East Marine).

Perhaps C-Dory should have added two questions... Which dealer we bought our boats from (if purchased new), and how the dealership treats us.

I can not say enough about the way Gene & Carrie have treated me, and no. I am not affiliated with them in any way. Of course it WOULD be nice if Gene would buy me a beer the next time I am in NC!

I used SurveyMonkey for years with free and paid accounts.
SM can record your IP address depending on the option selected when building a survey. This is not a problem for most purposes.
Having the IP address can be useful to prevent problems but sometimes users do not wish their IP address captured when entering survey results on important items. just a fyi I just thought the survey was out of place considering how dated the C-Dory web site is as of this posting. They should be update their web page and added a survey on the front page just like the C-Brats site.

I just completed the survey, as well.

As far as the sailboat question goes, I know that a good number of CD owners have a background in sail, from a thread I started last year sometime. I also suspect that for more than a few of us (Wild Blue, C-Gypsy, and I come to mind), this is our first powerboat after leaving sail as our primary craft.

I would bet that this question will show them where to put some ad dollars, trying to lure more boaters to their product.

I, too, wish that they would have included questions about our dealership experiences.

I tried the survey, but couldn't get it to send... perhaps it doesn't like Macs? Or maybe it's the crappy connection I've got (running near some civilization, but not getting many "bars"); I can't get the photo folder to upload, either.

I know of several former trimaran sailors who have purchased C-Dorys... these are folks who appreciate good engineering and are willing to pay for it. Another good market for C-Dory. Joan and I were talking today about that survey, and the thing we both like the most is the protection from that inside steering station (something sailor-folk don't often get).

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Must be your connection - I did the survey on the MacBook, no problem...Patty did it too so they get a two-fer from Daydream!

I couldn't help but notice that there was no space on the survey form for TC 24 owners to reply. How quickly we're forgotten. :unlove I consider the TC 24 the best all around boat C-Dory ever build and definitely should have a spot in the lineup, even thought it was mistakenly replaced by the TC255. Sounds like looks beat out funtion and performance. That's my contribution to this survey and I'm sticking to it. :teeth

Ooops,,,, well, I forgot to mention a couple of items that I think could be improved on the TomCat, but it won't let me back in to the survey form.

Soooo, here's hoping someone from C-Dory will read this someday:

1 - The backrest to the aft dinette seat is too low for long term comfort. Could it be raised, or made so that it could be raised by the operator?

2 - More easily accessible locations for four batteries, two house, one for each engine, would be nice.

3 - Helm seat should be designed to allow it's folding to create extra counter surface, or expose the counter surface below it for use when at anchor or docked.

John

I added a complaint that too many of the boat's control panels and hardware were added into cabinets in a way that makes it very hard to add shelves, etc.

Warren

Fred - I hope you are preparing to duck, the TC255 guys are not going to take this lying down!

Fred,

I've not been in a TC24 but I have been in Dr. John's TC255 and the performance was great. Well I know this won't make you (and perhaps even Dusty) happy, I personally think the TC24 was well..............

butt ugly...... (sorry).

I'm guessing that the performance of the TC 24 and the TC255 is not so different but I'd much rather have my picture taken in the TC 255. Just my two cents worth but I bet I'm not alone.

As an aside, the question about the number of boats you've owned before didn't start with zero. My sense is that the attention to detail in survey design was about the same as the attention to detail in interior construction or wiring...

Roger,

Agree on the ugly part - and some drawbacks on the 24, but I loved mine (warts and all). Much lighter, and performed beautifully with a pair of 90 Hondas. Lots of the Brats have been underway in my 24, and some might have the courage to agree!!

OT - our grand-daughter just finished 3 months in Roma -- and her take was a little different than yours.

Have fun, and see ya when you get back.

Dusty

They didn't have a spot for me. I had the Hunky Dory for about seven or eight years. Now I have a C-Ranger and they still gave me no place to put in my two cents......... I might have said something nice about one or the other. Than again they probably wouldn't care what I said about the C-Ranger. ...................They will never know. :amgry

Yep, same on my CD-25. I built a bracket to raise the seat back and also provide an alternate position (towards aisle) when I have the seat bottoms in their extended positions. Will post pictures when I'm satisfied with the proper height (first iteration was too high, only needs a couple of inches to fit in your lower back properly).
