C-Dory Burgee Order!

A thought on personalization ---

Flags have two sides so when you embroider them with a boat name you must make the flag in two parts, embroider the name on each side and then sew the parts together. Sometimes if you buy an off the shelf flag you can screen print the personalization (or use a heat transfer) provided the material is sufficiently opaque.

Long story short, personalization is best done during flag manufacture and can get $$. Think about ordering 500 company business cards with a different employee's name on each card.

Count me in for 1.

Joe, I think it's a wonderful idea you've got here. However, I have to agree with Bob. This is the C-DOG burgee, not ours. All issues with that group are history, and it's great everyone is on the same page now...but I think if a burgee is going to be flown, it should be a new design. I think a design contest from the members of this site would be a lot of fun. We could vote on the winning design and then everyone would feel like a "plankowner" if you will.

Having said all that, we're just laid back folks and part of the fun of who we are and what we do is the informality of it all...so I guess in many ways I'm not much of a "burgee" kinda guy...heck, I didn't even know what one was until we bought our CD and the original owner gave us one of these C-DOG burgees...but I do think it would be fun for the boats at gatherings at display one.

My $.02

The only enity that could copyright this logo would be C-Dory Marine and I don't see them objecting...so please keep me down for 2....

Joe,

If the Burgee cops show up asking questions...I know nothing.....

416rigby and Byrdman: If you guys would dig up those old Burgee's you don't plan on using anymore and ship them south I could save a few bucks and be able to put more gas in the tank.

And another interesting note or advantage of having the C-Brat burgee.. is the simple fact that all our Ranger Tug folks, who have now dropped the C... who are all very much a part of this site, along with the TC guys, particularly the 1st generation TCs....who did not have that C-Dory look.... could all fly the same flag...

It would be great, if a new design were created or use the C-Brats logo, considering this site has graciously accepted us Tugs into the C-Brat group :D

I have accepted this "assignment" in good faith to provide a workable addition to our group effort to promote our C-Dory boats and cause.

Ordering and re-issuing what seems to be a perfectly good burgee should be a simple, trouble free operation.

I think the burgee is perfectly fine as designed.

I feel the Tugs should have their own logo and burgee anyway, as they are a welcome but separate identity, and should represent themselves as such.

I'm not interested in doing a complete re-design and production due to all the design complications and production issues.

Onward!

12 orders and counting!

Joe.

Joe-You are right (I mean correct), in my opinion. 'Just be nice' really does mean something important. Thanks for reminding me of that, and for all the great things you contribute to our neighborhood. :thup

Thanks, Marty!

Here's a photo of the burgee! (I'll get an outdoor photo when the sun comes back out, but for now the PNW folks have shipped us down some gray soup de jour!

It's actually 18" x 12" , so I'll revise the price schedule to $15-$22. The larger size fits the boat better. I hadn't measured it until now.

We are one of those folks who don't know anything about the past.
We are not trying to dig up dirt. We are not carrying any torch from the past nor were we a part of the C-Dog site.
How come this site has gotten to a point where if you state your opinion, however nice you are then accused of not following the "Just be Nice rule"
I read over the thread and it doesn't appear that anyone was not being nice, just stating an opinion.
We have the old C-Dog burgee and in fact, it is flying on the boat now. It doesn't really mean anything to us as we were never a part of the old group in any way. It just simply came with the boat.
I hope you didn't take our opinion in a negative manner against yourself or your idea. It was merely a suggestion to have a C-Brats flag.
I won't however post anymore on this thread as it is saddening to us that yet again we get publicly chastised for simply stating an opinion. That certainly isn't in a good spirit of things. It is really a shame that a simple act of people sharing their ideas has turned ugly and for no good reason that we can think of.

Rick-

Very sorry if I lashed out with a broadside that caught you in the middle! I've rewritten and edited the post as needed.

I didn't mean it toward you, or anyone else in particular, at all.

I'm just frustrated by this seeming inability of our site to discuss anything that deals even indirectly with some of these past issues without hanging up on them.

In this case, I'm the one who read too much into some of the comments and they hit the "electrode" in my brain that is frustrated with not being able to move on in peace.

Sorry. I sincerely apologize to you and Donna.

Joe.

I will have to agree with Joe- why waste a perfectly good burgee? Mine does not have a name on it, but only the profile of a C-Dory.
I have one and will continue to fly it proudly as a C-Dory Owner.
burgee

Dang it- I couldn't get the picture

Man...rarely do I see two comments in a single thread that should go into the "Best of the Brats" category.

I sure get a kick out of seeing what just one little well intentioned suggestion will generate on this site.

well, I am not alwright with that design!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it is not the C-Brat design. I gave the original burgee I had to another C-Dog who wanted one since I was banned from the old sites and would never fly it again. I was glad to give it away and didn't even ask for shipping costs...lol...
I would gladly fly one of a new design. this is our logo now and it should be used

Roger-

I understand how you feel, and really knew from the first that some would not find the old burgee acceptable, despite all the rerasons I mentioned.

Maybe you can take orders and also have yours made up? Maybe folks would prefer it? Wouldn't bother me as long as we get one into action..

I would suggest that you take a look on the Burgees.com website regarding the design considerations. Flags and other communication means which need to be discernable from a distance need to be simple enough to be seen and deciphered far away. Small print and details can merge into something hard to discern.

Good Luck, and thanks for the comment!

See? No BROADSIDE this time!

Joe.
