Hello all,
Been reading the board and very informative. I have been really looking into getting the Angler 19'. I am in Sacramento and would be using it in some of the higher elevation lakes (Lake Almanor, Tahoe, Jackson Meadows, etc.) as well as doing some ocean fishing (Half moon Bay, San Francisco, etc.). I have not seen the 19' in person as of yet but do have a neighbor around the corner who has a C-Dory but have not talked to him about it yet. He had it parked on the street but now it is gone, guessing he is out on vacation using it hopefully. Anyhow when the time comes I am guessing buying used might be more financially easier on me than buying new. I have done lots of reading on here as well as searching for the 19' and looking at prices. Of course depending on the year and and options the prices vary. Does anyone know what a new one is going for these days. I cannot seem to find any dealers with prices for a new one.
Thanks in advance for any info - Nick

I'm sure one of the Marc's will answer you shortly. They are WA and FL dealers who are very active on this site. Good luck!

And yes, a used one will be less than a new one but no warranty. Not sure if the new factory has produced any 19's yet but there may be some older, new stock ones still in inventory.

Thanks guys - mid 40's, ouch - untouchable, but $26,000 is doable for a newer used one.

Finding 19' anglers in the used market is possible but difficult as there are not many made - especially relative to CD 22 cruisers. Of all the registered boats on this site, 19' anglers account for about about 5% (about 92 boats) where as 22' cruisers (about 860 not including classics) make up about 48% of the total. So you're about 10-times as likely to find a used 22' as a used 19' angler. Hence if you want used, you might to consider a 22 cruiser.

Thanks - Originally I was thinking about the 16' Angler but thought that might be a bit small for some ocean fishing so started looking at the 19'.
I have a 2008 4-wd Tacoma I will be towing with so looking for something that that truck can pull without much effort as well as a pretty easy launch if it would be me and my girlfriend. Have not thought about the 22 yet. I have read that the 19' is alot bigger than the 16'. How much bigger is the 22' compared to the 19'?

The simple (and smart a$$) answer is 22'-19'=3'. The more detailed answer is that the cockpit size is about the same (4'6" in the 22 cruiser, 4' in the 19 angler) and the cabin is longer (6'2" in the 22 cruiser vs 4' in the 19' angler). The V-berths are identical. As a result, the 22 has space for a small galley (single sink and 2-burner stove) behind the helm and more seating and a dinette on the port side. The 22 seats 3 quite comfortably and you can fish 4 if needed (I think 3 is the ideal #). The 19' seats 2 and fishes about the same number of people (just a little more crowded). Since many like the additional cruising features in a 22' it will also be easier to re-sell in the future (about 10 times easier given the purchasing trends of people on this site).

The 22 is a bit heavier - about 300# different in hull weight. The towing weight of 19 as typically configured in real life will probably be about 3500-4000# and the towing weight of 22 will be closer to 4500#.

Don't forget to look at the 22 Anglers either... We see them come up for sale on a regular basis, although not as frequently as a Cruiser. For fishing, you have a much bigger cockpit.

On Edit: This looks like a good buy. Newer eTec

For entertainment value, I made a pie chart to show the distribution of boats on this site. To reduce the number of categories to what can be easily viewed in a pie chart, I lumped the 16' cruisers and anglers into 1 bin. I also grouped all 22's (angler, classic and cruiser) into 1 bin. I left the 22 center consoles in a separate bin since they're very different boats from the other 22's. I also lumped the 25' Cruise ships with the 25' cruisers.

Here's an image of the pie chart that results

As you can see, all 22 versions combined (not including the 22 center console) accounts for about 60% of the total while the 19's account for only 5% of the total (a 12x difference). 16's (angler and cruisers combined) make up 15% of the total while 25's account for about 13% of the total.

I do appreciate it, the 22' would be too much boat for what i plan on doing with it as well as it would not fit in the driveway.

Nicky,

Every time the 19' is discussed, people here try to switch the person to a 22'. Stick to your guns - the 19' is a great c-dory that fits the needs of a particular market segment.

Thanks, Chromer! Your comment is deeply appreciated :thup

We've owned three C-Dorys. One of them was a 19 which we had for 6 1/2 years. What great experiences and adventures we had during that time :D The 19 was the only one we could get up a very tight driveway and then winch it into the garage. We couldn't do that with either of the 22s that we owned. The 19 ran right along with the bigger C-Dorys all over the San Juans and Gulf Islands. What a sweetheart of a boat :love :love Joe added a bulkhead and made extra storage compartments (both in the cabin and in the cockpit).

A comment about its sea worthiness is that we've been out in terrible weather and our 19CD could take a lot more than either the operator or the first mate. After a couple of really bad trips I never again felt insecure about being in that boat.

Nicky, hope you find a 19 when one becomes available. Meanwhile, welcome to the C-Brat site.

Thanks everyone - Wanted an ocean boat since I was a kid fishing with my aunts friends husband out of Santa Cruz. He had a Penn-Yann if I recall right with outriggers and hydraulic reels. Caught a lot of salmon.
Favorite trips were when we would go fishing for cod or dabs. For the last ten years I have been fishing out of my 13' Valco with a 9.9 Johsnon. Great little trolling boat for the lakes. Hopefully my neighbor will surface agian with his C-DORY so I can pick his brain. I actually live in Citrus Heights by Brooktree Park so if you are reading this I would love to check your boat out.

Cheers

Nicky, did a little reasearch for you on the Brats Map (click on it top of page). If the one near you is a C-Brat and he/she entered their zip code, they are shown.

The 22 near you is either Roger P. on Sunrunner, an '85 Classic 22 in Citrus Hts, or Dan&Jan who have an '03 22 Cruiser in Rancho Cordova. The nearest 19's are both Anglers and they are in Ione, CFox an '04 19 and in Grass Valley, SilverC an '07 19. If you find them in the member list, you can send them a PM or an E-mail and get in contact with them.

Good luck.

Charlie
