Anyone know how much fabric it takes to make curtains for the CD 22.

Any ideas on fastening curtains to the windows? We were thinking about magnets.

Don't know about the amount of fabric but can address the attachment issue. The frames are power coated aluminum so magnets won't work. Most people opt for putting snaps on the curtains. You can buy some snaps that can be attached to the window frames using the current screws on the frames. Then the curtains (or window covers) just snap on. Do a search on this site - the question has come up before and I remember a thread or two about this that will provide more details.

If you want real "Curtains" there are plastic tracks which can be glued up (and which are on our foreward small trunk cabin windows on the Tom Cat--over the berth). But the snap on covers are far better for privacy and will now blow in the wind, will stay in place etc.

Measure the window surface area. Sunbrella comes in two widths--46" and 60 inches. Sunbrella is used because it will match the other upholustry of the boat, and is very durable.
 
We used the plastic tracks referenced by Thataway Bob. We bought them from Camping World in Fife. Looking at their website, they have a location in Burlington also. We glued the tracks to the bulkhead above the windows with 3M 4200 fast cure. We also just cut to size curtains we bought off the shelf at Fred Meyer.

I opted for curtains made from Kings Canvas in WA. The owner included the made and female snaps necessary to do the work yourself. You just need to get a snap kit; I tried the plier type but found the hammer type worked better. It will take a bit of time, but you can make them fit very well.

Kings canvas can ensure a perfect color match to your interior fabric (also shown in my album - projects).

I bought black fabric ribbon from a local craft store and installed snaps on the ends so I could easily roll the curtains up while underway. Beats taking them down each time.

my curains are made of a material that sticks to velcro, so i just put a few velcro pads around the windows and stick the fabric to them, its nice not to have to line up snaps or orient the curtain properly, just stick on any which way, i have also found that our beach towls stick to the velcro too, so i hang them up to dry sometimes...
 
If you wish to have curtains for occasional use, and on the cheap...you might check out our album for another approach.
 
I made curtains out of light cotton for quilting and the boys got me the snaps that fit behind tehexisting screwe in the widow frame. silly me to order some expensive lighthouse motiff off the internet. one season of the boys yanking them off proved that only cotton duck or sunbrella fabric is strong enough to stand up to the elliott boys.there fore i remade tha same curtains. so i have the patterns made in paper sacks i can send to you if you want to make your own.

We took a regular shower curtain with a seashell pattern to the fabric and cut it across into 2 strips about 20" high. The top piece of the curtain has holes for the hangars to install and fit on the shower rod. We put the small hooks with sticky backs on the side of the cabin above the windows that lined up with the holes. Duplicated the hems and holes in the second strip to match the top strip and put matching hooks on the opposite side. A standard shower curtain is just wide enough that the entire side of the cabin is covered. Very easy to put up and remove as necessary and is folded and out of the way when not needed. Total cost was under $20.
