C-Dory 20'

We just serviced a motor on an unusual C-Dory. A 1991, and if I'm reading the HIN correctly, it is hull number 15 or a 20 ft series.

A nice boat with a modified V hull, short cabin (Angler sized) and in deck storage and the deck sits above the hull.

I have some pictures, but hae to figure out where to put them so I can post them....

Sorry we missed seeing that unusual one when we were by on Saturday. Enjoyed the visit! I learned last night that my next door neighbor recently checked out the 25 footer, as well.

No, it's a C-Dory 20, based on the HIN.

I have pictures, I just need to get them online, and then I'll post them. I think it's related to the "convertable" C-Dory's we've seen on this site.

Finally- Pictures!

Keep in mind this was a boat in for service, and it had just been purchased by the new owner from out of state. It was dirty from the road trip, and from sitting for three years.

Notice the bow, much more like the Cape Cruiser / Venture models.

The bulkhead may not be factory installed. The door can slide to either side of the boat.

CD20_Stern.jpg
Stern view. Wider splash well, and taller than the 22.

CD20_Fuel_Tank.jpg
Inside the boat. Notice the hatch on the centerline- the cockpit is a liner system, and the V of the hull allows a storage space. (It was frozen shut when these pictures were taken- it was 20 degrees outside!)

More PICTURES!

CD20_Transom_Detail.jpg
Notice the moderate V of the hull, with a flat pad.

Full view of the Cockpit.

CD20_Lapstrake_Detail.jpg
Notice how pronounced the lapstrakes of the hull are- the bottom one acts as a spray rail.

Cabin Pictures!

CD20_Helm.jpg
Helm. Note the storage box beneath the pedastal seat.

CD20_Comp_Seat.jpg
Companion seat- same storage beneath it.

CD20_Ohead_Shelf.jpg
Overhead shelf (with snow on windsheild). Note manual wipers.

V-Berth and Forepeak.

It is a 20 footer. Hull ID indicates number 15 of the 20' series.

The proportions do look like a 16 angler- but it has standing headroom (6' 2" or so) in the cabin. V Berth looks like it is a full 6' long.

I like it and also the modified V hull, i imagine that this design would add some lateral stability and reduce some of the pounding that the flat hull has. Tug

A nice looking boat indeed. I'm learning more and more about the different types of C-dory boats built. I didn't know about the 14' until I say one at Master Marine. I didn't know about the 27' until starcrafttom posted on their purchase. Are there other C-dory boats that I don't know about. I've seen pictures of the 29' model. I know about the ventures and cape cruisers. Others?

That is a neatly styled boat. The raised deck was not destined to be a hit, but I sure like the looks and the lines.

Here's a CD 21 Work Skiff that looks like it's made by a completely different designer. (Also more pics of it here.)

What size and make motor is hanging on it? And if you guys take it out for a test after you work is done please let us know what the ride speed and handeling is like.

It sure does look related to....

C-Dory -- lapstrake, and cabin (looks 19ish)
Cape Cruiser -- Transom and freeboard (shear line) and some Vee bottom
Marinaut -- Bow recurve and lower lapstrake /spray rail

Hummm, does compromise ring any bells?

Matt, thanks for posting the photos. COOL and tough (20'F).
Rick, Yes it does.

Looks like a smaller version of the 26 foot Pro Angler. What do you think, Jack?

Everytime I see a pic of Jack's Pro-Angler 26', I just start drooling. That is a nice looking boat. I wish they made more like that. I'd be ready to order one in C-Dory Green of course! :wink

I nwish we were doing a sea trial, but alas, the motor has been declared not worth fixing.

Had 250 hours on it, a 2000 Evinrude 115. The fuel pump has failed, and at nearly $1300 to repair, it's not worth the money. It would make a great parts motor, and will probably wind up on Craig's List in the near future.

The buyer of the boat already has a 115 Yamaha that he plans on installing on the boat.
