It's really difficult getting into the C-Dory 16 when your in your late-fifties. Marty's use of a Garelick boarding ladder was an excellent choice. However, I weigh 250 pounds, and wanted a more stable mounting arrangement then the supplied brackets. The solution was using inexpensive one-inch (O.D) PVC piping to construct rear legs, along with an arrangement for securing it to the gunwalel with an overhanging piece of pipe. We had to remove about 1 1/2" from the bottom of the Garelick's legs, which made for evenly-spaced steps down to the floor of the boat. All 4 legs have rubber feet to prevent slippage. Thus far, it has proved to be highly stable.
Over the season, it will get a hard workout. Of particular interest to us will be how the T-Joint will hold up over time.
