I'm looking to buy an 1982 classic 22 and need to know how much headroom is inside this cabin? i'm 6'3".

I have searched the archives here, but do not find this specific question answered.

Thank you.

Trust me, look for the "tall top" option. Your head will touch the ceiling if you're 6'3 and wear crocks or sneakers.

Don (also 6'3" but still have hair padding on top.)

I am 6'1" and I have to duck my head in my 83,or keep knees slightly bent. I cannot stand straight up. but then you have to to look out the windows.

My 1985 is 6-2 at center of cabin. I'm 6-0 and have no problem. You have to duck to lookout the window anyway, Just watch the doorway.OUCH.

Waternut,

I've got an '84 and used to be 73". My head, at the current 71" still brushes the ceiling. I was considering raising the roof and stopped by the factory for advice; one person said 'no problem if you have the skills', another said to 'buy the later model with the raised roof.' I believe it was in 1985 that C-Dory started making the roof with the central portion higher.

Since I'm not getting any taller and I only brush the ceiling now, I figure in a couple of years I won't even be close....

Good luck.

I have an 81 Classic and am 5' 7" and my head almost brushes the roof when I am sitting in the pilot seat. I can stand without stooping as can my wife who is 5' 9" but there is not much in the way of headroom for tall people.

Its never been an issue for us and I like the look of the older Classics without the raised center. If you need the headroom, previous advice to look for an older 85 or newer Classic with the raised center is sound and would be cheaper in the long run, skilled or not.

Waternut,
I'm 6' 3'' too, or I was the last time I got measured which was a while ago, and I've got an 84 Classic. There's not enough headroom for us longshanks in the old Classics, but I've adjusted over the years and rarely bang my head. It's a quandary like so many things in life. If the boat is otherwise a good deal, I'd go for it. I mean I'd really like more headroom, and I'd like AC, an enclosed head, a tuna tower and diesel power, but every boat is a compromise. I'm happy with mine.

Headroom is a funny thing. While even big cars rarely have enough, my Toyota Echo (the Urban Assault Vehicle) is ridiculously small and has oodles of headroom.

Good luck whatever you choose to do.

Say there, Mike of Mik Mack... I have a son who lives in Seabrook and works in Houston down by you. He loves coastal and surf fishing as well as hunting. He used to go out to the rigs with his neighbor, but that guy moved, so he is available if you might need a fishing/boating/hunting helper now and then. If you are interested, I'll give you his email by pm. John
